32 teams in the NHL and there are currently only 5 with records below .500.
Re: GDT: Blues at Avs 8:00 FanDuel
We are literally seeing the exact same problems from the exact same players for the 3rd season in a row. I would say 4th season but I’ll give them a pass as some players have moved on.todd-parker wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 21:56 pm That epic choke job in Game 7 last season really did a number on this franchise.
They can’t win more than 2 in a row but rarely lose more than 2 in a row! Took until late Feb last year to get their first 3 game win streak. Haven’t had one this season. Took until maybe Jan. the season before!! Crazy stuff
Re: GDT: Blues at Avs 8:00 FanDuel
Blues had a rough start vs the best team in the NHL. Avs have elite talent on their top 2 lines and they play like it. This game is a good barometer for what a Stanley cup contender looks like. Were playing the Avs game, like it or not.
For us, chemistry is an issue (passing), and our best players just aren't playing at the same elite level. Blues forwards have 4 total shots from 3 players (kyrou, snuggs, and stenberg with 2), largely because we haven't been able to maintain possession.
20 minutes to go. Would like to see a spark. 3rd line has been our best so far with 0 plus minus.

We win zero board battles and battles player a player one on one
What’s our record for the least number of shots in a game?

The power of top goaltending. Buffalo has had the best goaltending in the league during their 10 game streak out of nowhere.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 22:03 pm How does a team go from barely above .500 with two journeymen goaltenders and in one off season become a team that only has 2 loses in regulation through the first 38 games of the season?
There's dominating and then there's things just don't make sense. MacKinnon and Makar aren't that dominating.
Seems like something is going to give with that team soon.
CO has both goalies in the top 5 in save %!!! And no they don’t have a great defensive team.
On the flip side bad goaltending can kill a good team. 2018-19 Blues team would have missed the playoffs and been blown up

they have been Injury free...last season Mackinnon and Makar were both injured so that is the difference. Plus Blackwood is playing well.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 22:03 pm How does a team go from barely above .500 with two journeymen goaltenders and in one off season become a team that only has 2 loses in regulation through the first 38 games of the season?

Well, we just wasted 20 seconds or so of our own power-play of passing it around the perimeter and not even getting a real shot on goal just a reflection that didn’t count

They made the bold move of trading Rantannen. They used that trade/cap to get Necas, Drury and Burns. Also, it can’t be understated how important it was for them to get Landeskog back after being gone for two years. They are a phenomenal team right now.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 22:03 pm How does a team go from barely above .500 with two journeymen goaltenders and in one off season become a team that only has 2 loses in regulation through the first 38 games of the season?

Is there another coach that could do more with this collection of unmotivated stiffs?
Re: GDT: Blues at Avs 8:00 FanDuel
I think somebody else commented already that the third and fourth line are generating more chances and shots than the first two lines

It's beyond frustrating to admit it but yeah, MacKinnon and Makar are that dominating. The fact that they somehow drafted each within 4 years of each other just makes you want to scream as a Blues fan. Other than when they briefly had Gretzky, Hull, and MacInnon in the same lineup, the Blues have NEVER had that kind of talent in the same lineup, at least not in my 40-some years of watching.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 22:03 pm How does a team go from barely above .500 with two journeymen goaltenders and in one off season become a team that only has 2 loses in regulation through the first 38 games of the season?

If I had my choice of any 10 players to start a team with, NatMack and Makar are undoubtedly there, they're probably even both in my top 5.
