Thomas’ production is going to be directly linked to Buch, because he is always saddled with him. But I agree with your premise. Buch has become a player that makes Craig Janney look like Brett Hull. Buch simply doesn’t even look to shoot first. He gets the puck and immediately wants to pass. To the point that he just gives pucks away, because he thinks he needs to make a pass. It’s almost looking like he has Steve Sax-like issues. That it’s mental-that he has to pass the puck. I know he’s scored a couple here recently, but one was directly off another boneheaded pass attempt that literally bounced right back to him with an open net. I think he’s been playing better, but he doesn’t seem to be making smart decisions.JoshInFenton wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 14:41 pm I'll say this, Sunny does do a few thing well and he does throw his body in the line of fire a lot defensively against some of the better forwards in the league. He's got the will but not the way. So i'd be more along the yes to 6-7 minutes no to 13-15. And a presser visit every 3rd or 4th game.
With that being said though, until Thomas or Buch get demoted when they aren't producing, it's all a hollow threat.

If Monty is all about generating, why doesn’t he bench Buch for a game. Because he tries hard?2forDiving wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 15:19 pmThomas’ production is going to be directly linked to Buch, because he is always saddled with him. But I agree with your premise. The guy he praises for being able to take over games is pacing for about 25 points.
Can’t wait until Montgomery is gone to be honest. Never liked him

Army put the Blues where they are at now, but Monty will keep them here longer if he's around. Sometimes it really is the coach, but in this case its coach, GM, and some of the players. This team is just a mess now.
Re: Monty: If You’re Generating, You Play. If not...
It’s not a mess as much as it’s not talented. Horses aren’t in the barn. Guys like Buchnevich aren’t 18-20 minute players. It’s poor development at times as well.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 16:17 pmArmy put the Blues where they are at now, but Monty will keep them here longer if he's around. Armstrong was fired for similar vision/behavior. He has many strengths, but I question his vision/execution for younger teams and his ego/old school mentality hurts him sometimes too.

I'm thinking that Sunny still being on the ice is only because there's no other center available right now. When either Bjustad, Suter or even Walker comes back, Sunny will be in the press box.

For all he does the right way, and as much as he emphasize what the blues management is looking for.
Shows how bad this management is. Because it's those things he does right, that has got the team scored in so much. When he is out there and it's that, 'Blues way, that keeps him out of offensive play altogether.
You'd think it would be the coach looking to claim the room and bring the guys together. Monty age 12, keeps a zippo handy, and will play hard defensive work at a minus 15 over the 40 goal guy, who wants to produce. When the teams losing in the third.
No body getting [defecated] on like Kyrou is. would work for that guy. To easy to say [fork] him and laugh when the third comes back. But Tough guys proved some point about Kyrou. As the rest of the team has different standards.

Agree with the lot about Sunny. Like him as a player (and respect forever for 2019) but he should not be doing anything other than 4th line and PK duties. Makes my brain hurt to see him get powerplay ice time.
As for benching guys like Kyrou… I just don’t get it if you’re down in the game like they were against Buffalo. Pull him aside and say “I need more from you” but don’t sit one of your few real offensive threats.

It’s honestly amusing watching the St. Louis sports media—and some fans—wring their hands over how Kyrou is being treated by fans, coaches, and even media outside of St. Louis.
I don’t understand the obsession. Kyrou has always been about Kyrou. He plays the game the way he wants to play it, and that isn’t suddenly going to change because of criticism or a new voice behind the bench.
And let’s stop pretending he’s untouchable. Teams have won Stanley Cups after trading 30-goal scorers—players very similar to Kyrou. Talent alone doesn’t make someone a franchise cornerstone.

We haven't had a 40 goal guy on the roster for years...Cahokanut wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 16:27 pm For all he does the right way, and as much as he emphasize what the blues management is looking for.

Well we still had Tarasenko 3 years ago, but he last actually did it 10 years ago.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 17:33 pmWe haven't had a 40 goal guy on the roster for years...Cahokanut wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 16:27 pm For all he does the right way, and as much as he emphasize what the blues management is looking for.

Gotta go back to good ole Brad Boyes before that

Sure.
But, the point stands.
Management is again acting like children that don't get their way, with their treatment of Kyrou.
No matter the value lost to the team on the ice, or the future team playing on the ice.
They want to punish Kyrou. By making the claim it's his bad play that kept him off the ice in the third. Giving his minutes to Joe, Sunny, and such. Known for defense but get scored on at almost the same rate as Kyrou.
