What a Great Start

Post by Gymrat79 »

One of the best starts in recent years and yet The Stooges nor anyone else for that matter, except myself and The King (Rosthol) can acknowledge this.

12-1 is a great start and the team was about 1 second away from being 13-0. That said, the schedule so far hasn't included many powerhouses and only 3 road games. Cautiously optimistic is the feeling we should all have right now.

Conference play starts today (St. Joe's at home) and the team has a big road game next week versus VCU. We'll know a lot more about the strength of this team after that game. Stay tuned.

They can just flat out score. Even though it was a very weak non-con, they consistently put away the teams usually by 35 plus points or more. It is a very good sign that they did not allow their guard to come down on any night. Santa Clara and Notre Dame were the only two solid to good teams, and they played well in those games and got unlucky in the one. This team should win the A10 and I would guess be a 5-7 seed in the tourney.

Looks to be about 5 A-10 teams that had good W-L records coming out of non-conference play so it will probably be those teams fighting for the conference tournament title and the (most-likely) single A-10 invitation to the NCAA tournament. SLU's trip to VCU this Wednesday will be a good indicator of where they stand.

For sure, but if a team comes out with a great conference season but loses in the tourney finals, you may see two teams make it. If we were to only lose two or three games in conference play, it would be hard to imagine not getting an invite, but it would have to be that good of a record which is pretty tough.
