Lucas Giolito
Yes, I know we are rebuilding. But, we could still use a reliable, veteran arm...and he is still young enough with plenty of upside. Might be a nice anchor to a young rotation for the next 3-4 years. I wonder what kind length and AAV he'll end up commanding.

Spotrac estimates his next contract AAV to be just over 20M.TraveledLessRoad wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 13:36 pm Yes, I know we are rebuilding. Re: Lucas Giolito
I would prefer to sign Freddy Peralta next offseason to be a future anchor. This season is still too early probably for spending for the future.TraveledLessRoad wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 13:36 pm Yes, I know we are rebuilding. Re: Lucas Giolito
Giolito may be the canary in the coal mine as far as one year deals go heading into the potential lockdown... I think that is the only way this team signs a pitcher of his current ilk this off season, on a one year bridge.

for the right price --- and that line may get overused describing our current team

Re: Lucas Giolito
I think Buehler had a good chance to outperform the one or two year deal he will command.
Re: Lucas Giolito
Gio could work for the reasons you mentioned.TraveledLessRoad wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 13:36 pm Yes, I know we are rebuilding. I favor Littell in the same role.
MLBTR had Lucas at 2/$32 and Zack at 2/$24. Need won't go away
I'd give a third year with not much hesitation.
May won't last. He either breaks again or is good. The Pallante, Leahy, and that group
are lesser pitchers and redundant.
Re: Lucas Giolito
They need to go get two of that group. I remember Buehler (sic) as being a beast when healthy.

At what point will people realize he’s cooked?
Success rate after second Tommy John surgery is putrid.
