Rendon contract restructured
Looks like Rendon will now be let go by the Angels!
Does this open the door for a Arenado trade to the Angels? I see Arenado going to either the Angels or the Red Sox.

save $20M in 2027.
Arenado was always a possibility there. Murakami is too, especially with
new found money.

Yeah, Murakami is a possibility, but I suspect the Angels might prefer to wait on their #5 BA prospect, Davalillo, or their #6 BA prospect, Lugo. Both are turning 19 in 2026 and are pencilled in for 3B.renostl wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 14:48 pmAngels by spreading those years between 3-5 mayVegasSully wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 14:30 pm Looks like Rendon will now be let go by the Angels!

The problem is that both these prospects have only played in Rookie ball, so probably are earliest 2028 options, so your thought of Murakami makes sense. Would Murakami only sign for 3 years or could he get more?

Is there another Murakami on the market that didn’t already sign with the White Sox?VegasSully wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 15:09 pmYeah, Murakami is a possibility, but I suspect the Angels might prefer to wait on their #5 BA prospect, Davalillo, or their #6 BA prospect, Lugo. Artie Moreno can afford it.

Re: Rendon contract restructured
The chances of Arenado being in STL in 2026 are getting greater and greater every day. If there was any kind of market for him he would have already been moved. Us hoping that the Angels might be interested now that they have a resolution with Rendon is just that….hoping. Thinking Boston might be interested if they lose out on Bregman is the same thing….hoping.
Even with the Cardinals willing to pay a big part of the freight, there just doesn’t seem to be much interest. It has to be tough on a guy like Arenado, he can’t be given away. It seems like his only option is to work his (donkey) off over the winter and come in for the 2026 season and find some kind of fountain of youth and put up some numbers next year. A continuation of 2025 won’t help him much.
I hope the Cardinals can find a taker for Arenado this winter but I think we can only hope that will happen.

Doubtful they find a home for him until Bregman and Suarez make decisions.Whatashame wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 15:47 pm The chances of Arenado being in STL in 2026 are getting greater and greater every day. Maybe so but I always thought it would be slow for the very reasons that you mentioned here.Whatashame wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 15:47 pm The chances of Arenado being in STL in 2026 are getting greater and greater every day. Arenado will prefer to go to a team higher on his own personal list than
lower.
It's possible that if AZ or LAA were a favorite of NA the trade would have happened already.
Nothing more than speculation on my part.
