Former Rams player Ricky Proehl named Battlehawks coach
You know we’re in good hands. He replaces Anthony Brecht, who was named head coach of the Orlando Storm last week. In three seasons with Brecht at the helm, the Battlehawks had a combined 22-8 record and made consecutive XFL Conference Championship Games.
Proehl worked for the Battlehawks in 2023, serving as the wide receivers coach. He got to coach his son, Austin, that season.
He was an offensive assistant with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers in 2011 and 2012 and became the team’s wide receivers coach from 2013 to 2016.
Proehl spent 17 seasons as an active player in the NFL, appearing in 244 games and recording 669 catches for 8,878 yards and 54 touchdowns. He’s probably best known for being part of “The Greatest Show on Turf” with the St. Louis Rams.
