I’ve been patient and supportive of Drink and Gates.
But time for the heat to crank up. We’re paying a fortune, especially to Drink and the football program. Both can recruit. We’ll always have enough talent to be competitive. But neither can in game coach at all and both need assistants to handle all the X’s and O’s, and player development.
Both need to be the CEO and get out of the way.
Elliott at Virginia makes a little over a third of what Drink will now be paid. And he completely out coached Drink tonight.

Both these coaches pad their schedules and expect the fans to get excited. I think they’re both great people and recruiters but can’t get their teams even close to the finish line.
A lot of money going their way without much results.

I agree. What I witnessed this week from both coaches was some of the worst coaching I have seen in awhile. It was downright awful.bluecard04 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 21:56 pm Both these coaches pad their schedules and expect the fans to get excited. Drink better pipe down on the NIL fundraising campaign because one of those guys he’s jabbing is going to call him out and tell him to do his part first.
Re: Football and men’s basketball coaching
both can recruit, are good people and care about their kids BUT NEITHER can do what they get paid outrageous sums to do which is Coach up the kids they have.
Now methinks I was way too harsh on Kirby when the team looked just like they did this year. Non competitive even with better talent they lost to a team that couldn't get up to play their best when a Playoff berth was right in front of them, nor could their not that great coach inspire them too. So it's ELI who is STILL the problem with this offense and they couldn't coach up a highly rated QB to complete passes to wide open receivers or find secondary ones.
You take the ball march right down the field and easily score with your AA RB going wild and then that's ALL you can do on offense? You don't have any confidence on your baby QB and go all so conservative you only give the RB a few touches and don't adjust to what VA is doing on D?
I said at time the BOC panicked and tossed a whole lot more money at a guy who wasn't worth the first contract you gave him. Proved it every Saturday when a team with winning record was opposite them. He has been revealed to be just a guy on offense. So what does he do when the mediocre Oc leaves? Goes out and hires one with no track record of success as playcaller and OC.
Personally I am putting MU sports on Side Team status. Until they show that they can actually COACH at a Power 4 level instead of being G 5 guys all the way. Now that MU FB will have a much tougher schedule with 3 permanent teams they have little chance of beating. as he said himself in November what's wrong with 6 or 7 wins a year? I would take any of the new coaches in SEC like for KY, FL and AU over drink right now. Seems like MU will fall down to their status now while they raise level of their Programs to be competitive again.
Go Illinois FB and BB where they have competitive coaches and especially go SLU BB! Where he seems to have an idea of how to build them coach up a competitive team.

Can’t ever support Illini. That’s almost as bad as KU.hdhntr148 wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 11:49 am both can recruit, are good people and care about their kids BUT NEITHER can do what they get paid outrageous sums to do which is Coach up the kids they have.

The 2 just don’t go together. Despite our issues, I’d still take our football program over Illinois’ anyway. Mizzou in football is a notch up there. We’re frustrating only because we know we should be playoff contending.
SLU basketball, yeah that’s cool.
Re: Football and men’s basketball coaching
No, they are being paid to win and win big enough to make the CFP in football and the Sweet 16 at least in basketball. That's the measuring stick for their jobs with their salaries, especially that of Drinkwitz.hdhntr148 wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 11:49 am both can recruit, are good people and care about their kids BUT NEITHER can do what they get paid outrageous sums to do which is Coach up the kids they have.

And screw Illinois and SLU. They recruit against the Tigers and are the enemy.
