Re: Gorman / Saggese platoon
Saggese isn't going to be at 2nd base or platooning w/Gorman, he's nothing more than a back of the bench player.
Saggese is J.A.G.
JJW is going to be at 2nd base, Gorman at 3rd base.

Oh I'm crying already TB
But it's pretty clear they're going to give Gorman (and J. Walker) starting positions and they either sink or swim.
Not what me (or likely you) want but it does seem to be the 2026 plan.

You are a college level infielder. I would think you would see what others are saying. There has to be better.

As I stated above to TB, NOT what I would do.
But it's becoming apparent they're going to give Gorman (and Walker) F-T positions in this "re-build" season.
Trust me, their defense is pathetic and their hitting not much better.
But as I've said for some time now, these two are on Mo's resume and C. Bloom has no equity stake in either.
He can cut the cord, maybe as early as mid season, and dump one or both on any taker w/o any blowback.

Ok. That’s a mighty fair response. I agree on the skin in the game. Walker and Gorman surely must be on mental notice.rockondlouie wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 09:08 amOh I see it clearly BDogsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 09:05 amI’m muffed. Face first. Not excited about two subpar flawed players.
But we have a lot of those.

They figure it out and at their low salaries become contributors
WORST Case
They s u c k (again) and Bloom dumps them mid or end of the season on any team for a lotto ticket prospect
Given the telegraphed state of the 2026 season (re: BDWJr will spend little to no money other than off the books contracts Bloom can deal), this is what we're going to see this coming season.
Not what any of us want (rebuild) but given the state of the organization it's the only real path to take.

We got in too deep. The old template isn’t bold enough to save us. We need a newer strong template for the rebuild and hence the future.rockondlouie wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 09:14 amBEST Casesikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 09:10 amOk. That’s a mighty fair response. Amazes me how BDWJr, a brilliant businessman, never seemed to grasp this simply accounting principle when it comes to his players.Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 09:17 amSomeone who understands the concept of sunk cost run the org. IMO BDog BDWJr/Mo were drowning in their past success, content to live in the past as long as 3M kept coming.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 09:19 amWe got in too deep. Bad business plan not to replace upper management when it clearly had become stale (I've railed about this for many years) and bring in a fresh set of eye's.
The strong template is here, C. Bloom is doing a great job rebuilding the minor league system:

Re: Gorman / Saggese platoon
But why Saggese over Fermin?
Fermin in 126 games at Memphis:
.305 AVG, .426 OBP, 146 wRC+ with 15 HR, 36 doubles, 38 SB, and a sterling 79:47 strikeout to walk ratio
That's what EARNING an opportunity looks like.
