Zollers performance today could influence some WR transfers

Post by Shady »

I would think some of the outstanding WRs available in the portal would want assurance that a fine passer will be throwing to them.

Drink’s presser this week he was kind of cryptic talking about the plan without Moore. He said instead of run-run-run they might do pass-run-run.

No idea if he was being sarcastic, because he probably knows fans aren’t happy with his passing game. Or if that’s his way of saying he likes the run but thinks we should be passing a little more too.

I hope we pass block well today and Zollers can get comfortable. If that happens we might put up quite a few points today.

If I recall in last years bowl game Cook came out throwing a lot.

I don't know if it was to cross up the opponent or try and give Cook some exposure for the upcoming draft.

Whatever it was it worked out for Cook.

Zollers was very erratic in his 2 starts. Total of 15/37 (40.5% (Yikes)) for 189 Yards 2TD's and 1 INT. He did not look ready at all for this level of football. I did like how he seemed to be confident in the pocket and didn't have happy feet, but the dude couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with most of his passes.

Let's hope in the last month and a half he has vastly improved.

To be fair, the A&M game was just a disaster and it wasn’t all his fault. He had no time to throw and panicked, just getting rid of the ball to avoid sacks the whole game.

He actually managed the Miss State game pretty well, and looked pretty good vs Vandy as well in his one half of being thrown to the wolves.

He’s got a lot of talent, the key will be the O Line giving him time and letting him get comfortable. If that happens he might have a big day. Problem is, we saw nothing from the O Line this season to think they’ll have it figured out today.

You have to have a game plan (OC) who can get a young QB into a good place a rhythm if you will.

Route concepts, getting the ball out early, scripted plays early before the defense can adjust to gain some confidence.

Hopefully the new OC will incorporate for Zollers and all the QB's he works with.

OLine play is of course important but things are going to break down on a given Saturday and being able to overcome that and still make enough plays to win is all that matters. Simpson and Alabama this year is a prime example. He's running for his life half the time but is still able to find a way.

Zoellers is still 2 yrs away from being an SEC QB. Zero chance he starts for us next year. Remember he was planned to sit for a few years and was thrown into the tray this year.

I didn't see anything from him to make me believe he is anywhere near ready, or even SEC caliber. Awful performance.

Agree, spend the money and go get a REAL QB to start next year. If Zoellers transfers out if he is not told he is the starter next year so be it.

Yeah. They are going to have to find a QB. He can't be your plan A going into 2026.
