Amen, Seattle.
Re: Carbonneau Working on D: "Fudge the goals"
This exactly. It seems like he has the right mentality and maturity to work on becoming a complete player. This is how you win championships. Not a team full of figure skaters, aka Jeff Skinner.seattleblue wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 12:31 pm Best thing I have read related to the Blues in awhile.
You know I coveted Carbo for his ability, not only does he have something you cannot teach, he has something you cannot unteach. He is saying "F the aspect I have on lockdown ... BECAUSE I WILL ALWAYS HAVE IT ... "
He utterly needed this shift of attention. This is exactly what we all want to see, EXTRA DIMENSIONS. He isn't going to lose the goal scoring, you can't take it out of him, it's a given. Extra dimensions aren't coming at the expense of goal scoring with Carbo.
He has powerful attention. He's saying: "I am a competitor first and foremost. The most efficient thing to do was assign me goal scoring because anything I'm assigned I will do, to win."

Edgy. How do you feel about winning in the playoffs?netboy65 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 10:16 amPersonally I prefer winning games. But that’s just me.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 10:12 amI think we prefer losing a hard-fought and well-played game, rather than losing a high scoring game played like an All-Star Game.netboy65 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 10:06 amThis team and town were like that long before Hitch got here. He’s a goal scorer, he’s never going to be a defensive stalwart…that won’t fly over well here on blues talk. I mean why would we want a goal scorer to focus on scoring goals. Hitch…as much as I loved him, did a lot of damage here![]()
We only one one Cup... and EVERYONE hit when it was called for.... and ALL took care of the f#(bleep) Defense.
Re: Carbonneau Working on D: "Fudge the goals"
He didn’t exactly word that properly though did he? He was drafted to score goals so don’t say you’re abandoning that aspect just to work on your D. You say something like I need to work on my defense while continuing to get my offense up to an NHL level.

so you're dismissing him and deciding what kind of player he's going to be off a comment you would prefer be worded differently
that preference itself is foolish, also, and born of ignorance for this player
each thing independently is bad but together is special

It's not an "either/or" proposition. He is who he is. I believe he will be a great Blue. If he is willing to round out his game, so be it.

Not dismissing him at all, but know what this organization tends to do with talent.seattleblue wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 13:41 pmso you're dismissing him and deciding what kind of player he's going to be off a comment you would prefer be worded differently

Appears the kid is aware he'll spend a year, year and a half in the AHL if he doesn't learn the 200ft. game. I think this says a lot about his mindset, and where he wants to play next year. It's still an uphill battle, especially with all the youth currently on the team or pushing to make the team, but if he can get there, he has a chance. I still believe he'll start next year in the AHL, and would have preferred seeing him learn the 200ft. game in the NCAA this season.

Working on D to play in the NHL.
Was the same thing Bolduc said Kostin, Bokk, and Rattie said the same. It's like groundhog day around here.
I'm thinking he will get a similar treatment that Bolduc got.
Wonder who will get the ole Army fuckjob.(edit... Fuckjob is okay)

What a surprise. The same posters who literally complain about every single subject on Blues Talk are complaining about Carbonneau trying to be a better player. Who would have guessed??

Why are you so concerned about other peoples opinion.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 14:55 pm What a surprise. The same posters who literally complain about every single subject on Blues Talk are complaining about Carbonneau trying to be a better player. Who would have guessed??
You complain more about other posters. Then they and me complain about the blues.
Gives me big loser vibes.

He did. To Tarasenko especially. Guy would’ve been a 50/60 goal scorer consistently if they actually put him with players somewhat similar and skill and didn’t insist on a 200 foot game.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 09:58 amWhatever he turns out to be , I see him as a future whipping boy here. It’s not all Hitch’s fault though. For some reason, unless it’s Albert Pujols, this town hates raw talent. They prefer the lunch pail guys to the guys blessed by god.

I’m ok with the blue collar lunch pail guys…you need them to win but I’m also a firm believer in letting players do what they do best. Gallant was the best coach at that or at least had the best ideas, if some guy is lacking with two way ability, let him play his game and tweak the game plan and system to cover his deficienciesRollin' on the River wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 15:52 pmHe did. They're not turning him into the next Patrice Bergeron.
Just working on his D a bit.
Slight overreactions here.

You know, I really hated watching the Blues win all those games under Hitch, hated seeing them in the playoffs. Hated watching Tarasenko and Fabbri play.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 16:07 pmI’m ok with the blue collar lunch pail guys…you need them to win but I’m also a firm believer in letting players do what they do best. I really hated watching Unger, Federko, Pettersson, Mullen, Hull, Oates, Shanahan, Demitra . . .
