There’s a book. There’s a long history of research into the fact that they don’t. The research can tell you how they measure it. TV stations aren’t commissioning any studies. Don’t know where you’d get that idea.

Well, when considering the benefits you have to figure in the costs also.
1. Less revenue in the state because of the 3 billion dollar outlay.
2. The strain it puts on the infrastructure to accommodate more traffic and parking.
3. More policing because with crowds of people also comes criminals.
4. More strain and upkeep for the electric grid.
5. More water and sewage.
6. The money laid out could be invested more wisely in schools, public transport, local food pantries and elderly help, parks and programs at the parks, arts and music etc etc.
There's no doubt that a sports team draws more tourism and that does help, but it has it's costs also. Now figure in that the owners are going to keep the lions share of the profits and probably come back with their hands out later when upgrades are needed or when they want a new stadium.
