Play the tall guy at 1B.
I would leave him alone.

Definitely should be LF, and it should have been from the start. LF see's the same angle off the bat as 3b. Would have been an easier transition.
Wholeheartedly agree. And its where they had him in ST in 2023. Then transitioned him to RF. Made no sense.

If he can't hit, then his best position is on a plane out of St. Louis.
Now that seriously made me  .

The play is to probably leave him alone.

But Walker does have an infield background. If he were only an OFer, I wouldn't have written the OP.

"I would leave him alone."
Too bad they were too stupid to understand that concerning his swing.

Well, we know for certain that Brant Brown can't fix him. Remember all last offseason when we were told he was working wonders with Walker and Gorman. Now I know what "wonders" means. As in, I and many others wonder what happened when the season started.

How this manager and his disposable staff are still here is a wonder of the baseball world.

I’m obviously not on the ground, so the OP is just me theorizing.

But what you said I can’t argue with.

Bloom knows more than we do, so all I can think is it’s not an Oli/BB problem.

What I don't get is why Bloom/Dewitt would keep a hitting coach and manager who didn't seem to do much for the young hitters they have (Walker, Gorman, Winn, Scott, Noot) with JJ on the way. And 29th in HRs. An upgrade would seem to be in order.

I've mentioned Walker at 1B on here as well, so you're not alone. I feel like the Cardinals took a Derek Lee starter kit and flushed it down the toilet trying to rush him to the majors as an outfielder to cover for their organizational shortcomings. Sending him down because his consistent loud contact wasn't good enough. He needed to change things and get the ball in the air. There's a prominent player who faced similar criticism for his ground ball rate early in his career, any of this sound familiar?

Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. being held back by inability to get the ball airborne

I don't know if the Cardinals will move Walker to 1B, I think he'd be fine there, but I am still hopeful he puts it all together and contributes. I'm rooting for him.

I can't argue with you on this.

The only thing I can say is we are not 'on the ground', and I doubt that Bloom would do all this work knowing that he has inferior coaches on the MLB level.

If they were totally serious about fixing him, put him at DH most the time for a few weeks.

He by far has the best throwing arm of any of the Cardinal outfielders. He has speed to track balls, and this should be the season he starts excelling with the bat (if they leave him alone). Why even consider moving him 1st base? Burleson will be fine at first and will hit around 20 long ones and hit around .285. To me it will be catcher and LF that will be a concern.

I’m sure Walker could learn first. Grew up an infielder. Pitch and catch.

However. He has hitting issues. That should be the focus. Whats more difficult- continued mediocre play in right, which may have a mental effect, or learning first on the fly.

The bottom line on walker is simple- he’s got to hit.

That is so depressing.
