So because they won't sign major league talent it's the manager's fault. LOL
Marmol's last place 2023 team had Goldschmidt, Arenado, Contreras, O'Neill and Wainwright. Plenty of veteran presence.
Whitey Herzog took the cards to the world series in 82, 85, and 87. In between he had losing seasons. What's your point? Managers don't hit, field, throw or pitch. They can only move pieces around in hopes of them working out. If a million dollar contract can't motivate a player, I doubt anything anybody says will.
Herzog was the last manager to take the Cardinals to the world series with Pujols on the team until Matheny.

I think "motivating" players is a misnomer. They are professional athletes. You don't get that far without motivation. One reason Marmol calling out O'Neill was asinine.
You’re ret@rded

I’m not sure if Scotch is “retarded” or not, but I am sure I have some family members with both physical and mental developmental challenges.

So, thanks for the insensitivity towards others who may not have been as fortunate as yourself.

Motivation?
No.
Accountability?
Yes.
And accountability has been missing since the moment The Marmot was hired.

Let's take it further.
If and when Donovan is traded, who of the remaining Cardinals would be looked at as "the leader" by the other players?
I believe I know.

So teams don't need an actual player who's a leader?

So no one on the Cards staff has played In MLB?

You'd be wrong, twice
I remember hearing that Herzog went to Ozzie Smith and asked him to work with Willie McGee when McGee was acquired. That's the manager being a leader and turning a player into a leader.
And you know that Oli has never done that?
I don't know and You do not either unless you are with the team, in the dugout, in all meetings. Do not have others lie for you. Nobody knows
