Parayko/Edmonton Trade Scenario
Saw this after the kids turned our house into a gift wrap and cardboard graveyard. This musing courtesy of Chris Johnston of the Athletic.
According to The Athletic, any trade for Parayko would likely involve a first-round pick, a mid-round pick, a prospect, and a roster player to help balance the salaries.

A late first round pick and a late mid round pick - that just doesn't sound enticing for a shut down defenseman with a 6.5M cap hit. It would have to be one heck of a prospect.

Re: Parayko/Edmonton Trade Scenario
They (Oil) looked pretty darn good vs. Flames; but still think they'd love to have both Parayko and Binnington to be safe. So I guess the Jarry contract would come to us. As for prospects and picks; they don't have a 1st rounder for 2026. So 2nd in 2026, 1st in 2027, 1st in 2028. That being said; horrible trade partner, zero prospects worth a dam.

Why isn't a good goaler their top priority?

The only Oil first rounders that might be worth it are already on our roster.crookedfeeder wrote: ↑25 Dec 2025 16:11 pm They (Oil) looked pretty darn good vs. Flames; but still think they'd love to have both Parayko and Binnington to be safe. This. Army would be fired immediately for trading away Parayko.Tony Palazzolo wrote: ↑25 Dec 2025 16:11 pm A late first round pick and a late mid round pick - that just doesn't sound enticing for a shut down defenseman with a 6.5M cap hit. It would have to be one heck of a prospect.

Maybe Parayko+Binner for Jarry, Frederic, Emberson, Isaac Howard, Paul Fischer, David Lewandowski, Tommy Lafreniere (or maybe one of their college prospects), 2nd and 3rd, 1st and 3rd

IMO, any goalie swap with Edm sailed when they brought in Jarry.

Parayko has one of the best contracts in the entire league. He is 6.5 million for 4 more years. No team is going to be willing to give up what it would take to acquire him.
Re: Parayko/Edmonton Trade Scenario
The flip side is the Blues get nothing for him and win nothing with himTheJackBurton wrote: ↑25 Dec 2025 17:31 pm Parayko has one of the best contracts in the entire league. He is 6.5 million for 4 more years. No team is going to be willing to give up what it would take to acquire him.

To me, he has easily been one of the most disappointing Blues players so far this season. I’m pretty sure he will be on the Olympic team, but he definitely doesn’t deserve it.

Re: Parayko/Edmonton Trade Scenario
Blues should be looking at Philly as a trade partner. They have drafted extremely well the last few years and are loaded with quality prospects. Briere is going to do everything possible to get them over the hump this year. Parayko would be a great addition for them…maybe even Binner. As a trade partner for us it’s a match made in heaven..
