Only 3 pts out of WC
With how disastrous this season feels, Blues are still in the hunt for playoffs. We have been playing with a depleted roster which when they comes back will significantly boost out playoff chances. Remember last year Blues were in a similar spot and caught fire the second half. While I know people would love a top 10 draft pick, I suspect Blues leadership is thinking playoffs.

They should be thinking play offs!rezero wrote: ↑24 Dec 2025 08:20 am With how disastrous this season feels, Blues are still in the hunt for playoffs. Maybe this team never finds it but there is plenty to find and still time to do so.

Re: Only 3 pts out of WC
If they had beaten Tampa instead of lost in regulation they'd be tied at .500 with Utah and SJ for the final spot. Instead the Blackhawks at -4 and the western Canada teams that are -3, -3 and -2 are holing the top four picks in the draft, with the Blues at 5. It's a complete mystery box what is going to occur the second half of the season. Except we know the best they could possibly do is making a stirring run to achieve what they achieved last year.
There's nine teams from 8-16 in the conference who could all easily make the playoffs or easily have the #1 pick

Re: Only 3 pts out of WC
I've been of this thinking for a few weeks. They are about the same distance from the last WC spot as they are to a top 5 pick. I think what causes me to lose a little hope for the last WC spot is Nashville. We'd have to compete with a few teams for that last spot, but Nashville is really taking off. They change the calculus.

Re: Only 3 pts out of WC
They are zero distance from the 5th pick, they hold the 5th pick.
If they had won their last game instead, they'd be tied for the last WC holding the tiebreaker.
But if they had lost a game in regulation that they won this year they'd be tied with the Hawks for the first overall pick
It's a complete outlier situation caused by the massive pileup of OT games throughout the league, this never happens

I realize that people want to hope for the best - I love playoff hockey especially when we’re involved. IMO it would be for the best to sell off and get the best pick in the draft. This draft is deep, it’s quite possible we could get that game breaker to add to what we have coming. Not asking for a full rebuild just tired of purgatory.seattleblue wrote: ↑24 Dec 2025 11:13 am If they had beaten Tampa instead of lost in regulation they'd be tied at .500 with Utah and SJ for the final spot. Re: Only 3 pts out of WC
We are a sub .500 team 4 points out last overall...we're NOT a playoff team even if we happen to make it. Army better not [fork] this up like he did last season.
Re: Only 3 pts out of WC
I think I'd prefer to do a little selling at forward and possibly goal tending, I'd like to be in the playoffs but I'm also ready to get on with the new generation.

Agree. Especially if we get an overpayment for a vet like Schenn or Faulk.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑24 Dec 2025 11:54 amI realize that people want to hope for the best - I love playoff hockey especially when we’re involved. I'm not ready to sell d yet, we have lots of young forwards trickling in and I'd like to see us give them a reasonable d to work with.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑24 Dec 2025 15:04 pmAgree.
