Why Army does not want draft picks in return...
Army does not want draft picks in return for Faulk, Schenn, etc.
Why?
What Army claims is the reason:
Want player in the same age range as the core...
The real reason:
Army's veterans can only fetch a 2nd-round pick or worse. How embarrassing would that be for Army?

He has not at any point indicated he wouldn't take draft picks if he sells. This is another blatant lie and false premise.

Evidently, you don't follow the team and Armstrong very closely.

Army knows the team needing to tank. Makes him look bad.
So he sells the magic in a bottle Oil to Stillman. Who just wants to be known and liked in Canada hockey.
Steen will have no chance at a "retool, refresh, rebullshit, re whatever. As the team is headed for a full teardown rebuild. Steen would be smart to move on as soon as he can. Because Army is setting him up.
Army also wants who he wants.
And he can't get that with draft picks. As those choices(while guys Army would want) are not really his. Hockey trades is where his say so is and his ego will continue to live in. No matter whats good for the team, Steen, or the organization. Trading for another teams problem and the instant payoff that can come with a the new guy, along the ith the need to tie that player up to a long term contract. Makes Army look good. Or that's what his fans will argue.
It's smart. In that he gives fans the turtle hockey or losing hockey, they have been taught, is the winner.

I do not care if he takes draft picks or prospects as long as he does take best offer available.

I do my best to broadcast Army-isms... He's such a smart GM.
I've let Islander fans know that Schaeffer was the wrong choice. Schaeffer does not FIT into their core age group. They are going to really regret the pick.

I hear that Army is trying to get a "NOW PLAYER" from the Kings in return for Schenn.
This is because "Schenn for a Round 2 pick" would look bad to the St Louis fans.
If Army truly wants a NOW PLAYER, he already has that in Schenn.

Or… and this might sound crazy, but prospects with more visible projections via compiled years of scouting and young NHL ready players are more valuable?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑20 Dec 2025 13:58 pm Army does not want draft picks in return for Faulk, Schenn, etc.

Schenn is 34. Fans know this. He’s under contract for 6.5M/yr for the next 2.5 seasons. The market was already set by the Danault Trade. None of this is shocking.

Aren’t you one of those that constantly whines about tanking for Top 5 Picks? Now you’re whining about the #1 Overall Pick?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑20 Dec 2025 16:05 pm I do my best to broadcast Army-isms... He's such a smart GM.

The Islanders dealt Dobson, Drafted Schaefer, and went from Worst team the prior season to potential Metropolitan Division Champ w/a shot at the #1 Seed in the East. They are 3 Points behind Carolina & Detroit.
What an absurd take.

I never said that a TOP5 pick guaranteed greatness. I only say that the very best NHL teams are powered by their successful TOP5 picks.BleedingBleu wrote: ↑24 Dec 2025 08:55 amCool. So how are the Blues going to acquire their Crosby, Celebrini, Draisitl, or Pietrangelo talent to win another Cup? Do you think that our great abundance of 3rd-liners are going to gang tackle the other team's McKinnon?
