He was deep in his net and sliding to his right not expecting a tip even though it was a floater and there was a Tampa guy right there. Binner didn’t come ready to play

Bad bounce/dumb play by Faulk on the 2nd goal.

3rd goal was the weakest by far. Another floater from the point with a very high tip that gave it a slight redirection. The broadcast gave one good view of the play from behind the net, Binner went down and put his glove up to catch the floater from the point and didn’t realize it was deflected until it was in the back of the net.

Do some not realize that tips, bounces, and deflections happen all of the time? NHL goalies stop the basic ones all of the time. I also can’t remember Binner making any above average saves the entire game. That lucky pad save was a direct result of not reading the play and going down early

Ok let’s pretend he was, he wasn’t alert and sliding to the right on a non threatening shot that was probably going wide. He should have been deep in the crease if he was only looking to stop the floater

No you come out from there and challenge. You don’t sit deep. And he was tracking the puck like every goaltender does. Keep letting easy tips from mid ice happen. See what happens

Ok moving past that play, Binnington wasn’t looking confident in general. Goalies that are reading plays and tracking the puck well look good making their saves. Last night he made routine saves look hard, let up too many rebounds, and was slow to cover pucks.

Pretty much the opposite of what Hofer has shown the past 5-6 weeks outside of 1 game.

Binnington hasn’t been good this year. Terrible team though too. It’s gross watching them.

It's gross when grown "adults" use the word gross like a teenage girl.

I saw one deflection, go from up to down that was the most intentional re-direct on goal. And it worked. The other three goals were simply shoot the puck towards the net hoping they somehow go in and they did. Every other puck that came near Benny, he stopped. Problem is, most of them should have been kept away from the net by our defense. I'm no smarter than anyone else when it comes to everything that happens and why. Too much to consider. But after watching the Blues from their birth. WE've had some good net minders abd some pretty bad ones. I believe we've got two damm good goalies now. Just my opinion.

I don't see that one could expect either of the two deflections to be stopped....

First, I am not defending Binner, but people think you can play both the shot and deflection is absolute moronic stupidity. One's actions are set to the shot and changing a reaction to a deflection when already in motion is dumb luck at best. Play the position and then let me know. Play the shooter and the pass at the same time, same dumb "logic". Unreal... SMH.

Binner has not been playing well and then gets bad bounces. Gonna play with his mind.... " Can't catch a break"...

Not at you Harry, agreeing with emphasis

I’ve read some really dumb things on this forum but this is right up there as the dumbest. Stopping a puck that was redirected is “dumb luck”!!!

If you watch or play hockey with any regularity then you would know that NHL goaltenders do it non stop. They get into a position to let a shot with traffic in front hit them if it doesn’t change direction…..at the same time they are LOOKING/READY for the puck to be tipped or deflect off of a random leg/skate/arm/ext. If a redirect happens, they make a reflex save if they are ABLE TO TRACK the puck (and the puck doesn’t go into a perfect spot where it’s impossible to save).

Bad/unconfident goalies will rely on their positioning only and pray it hits them after losing sight or they simply don’t have the ability to track the puck….deflection or not.

having played the position I can affirm this is not true. deflections up/down are much easier to position for then left/right
