Wait! Burns was awesome in practice per Gates, I'm just amazed it hasn't translated to game play. Yeah, that's right. Kalab Brown was awesome too per Gates, he's obviously an awesome talent evaluator. All you have to do is look at our current team to realize this guy is a clown. Brought in 5 guys, one shows every few games.

Gates Buyout at the end of the season is $11M, but with the incoming class he will get another shot next year. Next year will be critical as he will only have one year left and a buyout less than $5M. My guess is next year will be the make or break year for Gates.

Gates got pretty much eviscerated by Ashley Wright in the post game show, who said the team was clearly unprepared for Illinois’ defensive sets despite several days of practice, and looked like a team who came up with a game plan that morning. Wowza.

Actually, you just amplified the point. The winners will always be the ones who don't go 15/56. That is one of the things from last year that is showing up early this season. When we look at MU's collapse at the end of last season, nobody seems to want to say the painful but real thing that Mizzou's best players simply wilted when the pressure was on. I don't like using the word 'choke,' but Grill and company falling apart the way they did down the stretch and in tourney play makes it impossible not to. Last night's game against Illinois showed us early this year, that these players don't have what it takes, mentally, to succeed against higher tier opponents. To say it in two words, they flinch. They have talents, but they're not winning players.
