Burleson/Hererra
I'd expect these two could platoon at both 1st Base & DH.

Good write. Nice work on the pun. Reminded me of brain salad surgery.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 08:09 amBumbles or KKorn. The only ones who have played there. Pretty simple. I have no faith in Kkorns hitting so it would be Bumbles.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 08:01 amSince you tout the level of importance, who do you put on first. And. If. No longer speculating. Willy is long gone. Who takes first.
Burleson. Player without a home. Bet he makes a big move to first.
Herrera. He ain’t a catcher. I’d like to see him try left.
Gorman. Third base ain’t it.
Three candidates.
Laughable to believe you can just plug in anyone who hasn't shown a competence to play anywhere in the field, at 1b.
Looking at JW (who says he should even be on the roster?!) and Ivan.
1b touches the ball way too much to take this so lightly.
Not rocket surgery or brain science
Re: Ok. So who’s at First.
Shoot, lets make it 3 trades with the Sox. Trade Nolan for Casas and throw in some cash. Boston doesn't seem to think he is in their long term plans.

Yes, Burleson is the obvious first option for first base.......and could a Donovan deal involve a certain young power hitting first baseman with the San Francisco Giants?Melville wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 08:15 amIndeed.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 05:51 am Good morning.

And you have them ranked in the correct order.
As of today.
Remains to be seen, with several moves remaining.
Very, very good chance Bloom pulled the trigger with Contreras already knowing what he has lined up with a Donovan deal.
Re: Ok. So who’s at First.
Burleson probably begins the season at 1B.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 06:24 amAs a former catcher, picking short hops in the dirt should help. What do you think of Herrera in left.
They’ll be a Herrera Experiment most of 2026 to find him a home.
Walker & Gorman who knows?

Re: Ok. So who’s at First.
I would imagine Burleson will stink up the corner for a while. More playing time means more of Burleson facing more left hand pitching which doesn't really bode well. Maybe a platoon of him and Herrera at 1st? Maybe they'll eventually even try to move Walker to first. Who knows with these clowns. Either way it won't look good. Sadly the Cards are going to lose for the foreseeable future. Now, to get rid of Donovan and Jojo as quick as they can on their march to lose 100 games.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 05:51 am Good morning.

Re: Ok. So who’s at First.
Consensus says Burleson.
If Nado stays, where does Gorman play.
I’m stuck here. If we don’t play Herrera here, he catches, and that just won’t work. Too much stress on the staff.
Herrera to left may work.

The left-hand throw first to second is easier.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 06:21 amSeems many first baseman were lefty. That glove covers the hole, but makes the line a back hand play. Also, I thought they quit on IH in Left too soon. Obviously my opinion.

I agree. He has the arm. I don’t know about his speed. And the glove.tgharris wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 07:48 amThe left-hand throw first to second is easier.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 06:21 amSeems many first baseman were lefty. Could be wrong, my impression is that he runs well enough. My default position about guys playing Left is this: "Greg Luzinski could."sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 07:50 amI agree. And Matt holiday. Ozuna. Duncan. Etc. as the board has noted, first and left battle for easiest position to play. Not out of question.tgharris wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 08:04 amCould be wrong, my impression is that he runs well enough. NA will get traded, but assuming he doesn’t, NG will see time at 1b, DH and some 2b.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 07:42 am Consensus says Burleson.
