Re: Are we still excited about Bloom?
He got 2 pitchers who are going to be in the rotation next year, along with a 22 year old and a 19 year old who are both turning some heads, for a 36 year old at the end of his career, and who many around here said was a #3 at best, and a 33 year old 1B/DH who a lot of people hear complained about how Mo was an idiot for signing in the first place.

All summer long posters on here were complaining about Grays inability to go deep in games, and how WC was over paid.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 19:25 pmDon’t watch much baseball, do ya?hornetfb52 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 19:23 pm Not really sure what some were expecting for a declining 6 inning pitcher and an overpriced catcher that doesn’t catch.
I love the idea of loading up on pitching prospects. Bound to hit on 1 or 2 of them.
Still 3 months to go.
And I know a lot of heads are spinning as we’re not sure what exactly we got in return?
But:
Assuming Arenado is dealt. Losing him, Gray, WC, and Mikolas didn’t figure to be a lot of production beyond 2026 considering their ages.

Re: Are we still excited about Bloom?
Bloom’s moves have been very solid, the guys we traded werent hall of famers, and the $$ attached to Gray and Willson lowered their value. Not sure what people were expecting. Moe would still be asleep without a single move

He’s got a good strategy stockpiling a lot of major league ready arms to compete for rotation spots and to give them options to bring up replacements if a starter isn’t pitching well some can also go into the bullpen he’s also stockpiling raw low level starters that can have high upside. The more starters you have the more likely it is some of them are going to be good. It’s a good strategyvegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 19:18 pm I'm just not impressed so far. As of now it looks like we will have 40 pitchers and 0 hitters on the team. Thats a bold strategy, Cotten
It's just getting harder and harder to root for this franchise. I need to start taking up Summer hobbies

Yes. These trades all have an eye towards the future, which is exactly how the Cards should be thinking right now.
My excitement will wane if all of these prospects fail. If many or even some of them succeed, we are in business.

Yep, and as another poster said, a path was chosen. No straddling the fence like mediocre Moe loved to do, and sign 2 below avg relievers and an aging journeyman starter and call it an offseason, so glad that guy is out. Bloom is being very proactive
Re: Are we still excited about Bloom?
If it goes well it will be in spite of some of the deals. A lot of our future production will come from our own draftees and internal development as well as FA signings. Some of these trade returns look like window dressing.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 19:21 pm I am. Not every deal will be my favorite, but overall this will go well.
So far we have less than 1 war from all the players we got back at the deadline in 2023. I didn’t love those trades then and now it’s clear they haven’t moved needles but the same posters who love all Blooms trades defended all those as well with the usual - better than nothing excuse.
Bottom line, if it doesn’t move needles in big ways, it’s not worth getting excited about or buying tickets.

Well people weren’t excited or buying tickets to see Contreras last season they weren’t going to win next season if they kept him why not try to get something for them? And mo always was stupid and waited until the deadline to trade rentals so he wasn’t ever getting big returns for themCarp4Cy wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 20:03 pmIf it goes well it will be in spite of some of the deals. But.....with all the hubbub surrounding Donovan wouldn’t it be something if he is starting in LF opening day??? LOL
Re: Are we still excited about Bloom?
If enough of our own draftees succeed we should be in some kind of business already. We’ve had terrible run of lack of success from our top internal prospects.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 19:59 pm Yes. But these guys we are getting that the Sox’s don’t want anymore arent on the level of Doyle, Winn, JJW, Bernal, probably Matthews or what we hoped Scott and Walker and Hence would be.
Those are the types that had/have the potential to move needles. We need that to happen.

The line up will be what it is....not great but young and cheap ...hopefully Herrera continues to get better...Winn obviously has the tools when healthy to get better....Walker and Gorman need to show something....burly will probably give you the same as last year....noot prolly gets dealt....JJ is going to hit I think...lots of bat to ball skills with that kid...I don't think Scott will ever hit much but hopefully I'm wrong.....let's see what we have as keepers after this season...also have a few guys in the minors that could be ready or close after this season also...Jatalk wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 19:36 pmOk but where do you see any offense coming from on this roster? Young and cheap - I’ve seen this movie before, year after year at my local Coors field. Every year they get younger and cheaper than the year before. So exciting.Bushiro wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 20:29 pmThe line up will be what it is....not great but young and cheap ...hopefully Herrera continues to get better...Winn obviously has the tools when healthy to get better....Walker and Gorman need to show something....burly will probably give you the same as last year....noot prolly gets dealt....JJ is going to hit I think...lots of bat to ball skills with that kid...I don't think Scott will ever hit much but hopefully I'm wrong.....let's see what we have as keepers after this season...also have a few guys in the minors that could be ready or close after this season also...Jatalk wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 19:36 pmOk but where do you see any offense coming from on this roster? But you are probably 100% correct.
Side note:
I went to the Red Sox Prospect site and looked up Fajardo.
Interesting arm at only 18!
But look at his profile picture. Maybe it’s the angle but he looks like he’s 40 years old!!!
LOL....check it out!!!!

So most rebuilding trades are like the 2023 deadline? Okay…Carp4Cy wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 20:03 pmIf it goes well it will be in spite of some of the deals.
