Because he's your best lefty reliever. They could be competitive if they bump the payroll back up and add some quality pitching. Nado was awful last year but he has no real trade value. Give him a chance at resurgence, he deserves that. If he does well and you're out of contention then you could always deal him at the trading deadline. No one can say that they couldn't compete for a playoff spot, but dealing your best players kind of makes the point moot.

We tried that already last year. Remember? He has been declining for a few years, we couldn't trade him, he didn't have any resurgence during the season he was even worse last year than the year before, and couldn't be dealt at the trade deadline.
