Bryan Torres was placed on the roster.StlMike1969 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 08:33 am I think where people like myself are coming from in relation to getting a chance. It has to do with success vs reward. The minors system is not an easy place to rise above. (bleep) bus rides, cheap rooms, lousy food day in, and day out. Expected to each day be rested enough, and in good enough spirits to go out and hit the ball with some average or better defense. Year after year when most guys that age are out making money, dating girls and overall enjoying their lives. As a ball player your expected to forgo it all and stay laser focused on producing well enough to get a shot at the show. Koperniak and other guys like him had put together good enough seasons to have earned at least a month on an average at best MLB team. He could not get that though while guys like Siani, Scott and Walker got all the playing time in the world. He had to of been disappointed to have had the 2024 season he had to then get sent down to AAA without even a look. We will never know if he was the victim of an injury, unfair bias or all of the above in 2025 that cast him out of consideration.
Either way I would hope moving forward that when guys do have those kinds of seasons that they at least get a fair shot to show their worth.
I will never understand why Siani and Scott have gotten as much playing time as they had. Their defense was never that far above Koperniaks that the lack of a bat should have been the deciding factor. I am hoping Church does better or he will also be buried in the system. Scott needs more AAA time just like Walker. We need some other guys getting a shot to show if they can stick from our system. We do not need any more Garcia's and Arozarena's happening. Here's hoping Koperniak finds a place somewhere he can get a shot and will succeed.

Re: Koperniak DFA
He had a good spring training...shoulda got an short MLB run since everyone stunk and they gave time to couple other low ceiling guys that were basically temps they were not afraid to dfa back through waivers etc. or just release. . Nothing expected but he worked his way up and had good spring..a small reward for him in the org.

Re: Koperniak DFA
It's hard to believe with Siani, Hampson, Vilade, and Barrero getting opportunities that there was never a time or place where Koperniak could get a shot. He was already on the roster.Clubmaker2 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 11:52 am He had a good spring training...shoulda got an short MLB run since everyone stunk and they gave time to couple other low ceiling guys that were basically temps they were not afraid to dfa back through waivers etc. or just release. . December 19th: The Cards announced that Koperniak has cleared waivers and been sent outright to Triple-A Memphis.

Never got a shot to play. Should have DFA Walker or Scott instead
