Re: pribula portal
So, going to the bowl game with QB's Zollers and Lock and start next season with (as of now) Zollers and Sidwar. Maybe Horn will returnm
Re: pribula portal
Doesn’t mean he should start as a sophomore. He missed almost his entire senior year of football. Hes played about 5 games the past two years. He may have great talent, but he’s a big risk.11WSChamps wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025 13:36 pmZollers unless injured is going to be the guy.woofy25 wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025 13:15 pmThere is no top tier QB who would come to Mizzou without assurances of being the starter. So HALLELUJAH! That both of them are gone as well as the bottom ranked passing offense in SEC!
IF anything Eli has learned lessons as he has matured as a Power 4 CEO/HC. He will learn from this mistake and get better. There are terrific OC's available who are experienced in the Tough conferences playcalling with Uber successful track records of Passing and Running attacks.
Now we can breath again as with Beau gone and thanks for the service to MU but he didn't grow into position. I am sure he will end up with G5 school and do well there.
Now Zollers can take over all the reps and with the bowl game experience it will jump start him for SP and next Fall. Plus you have Beau's money to include in a contract for next QB you know Eli will bring in off Portal. HATE IT that Speeding and Manning left but we will see what receiving corp there is left on roster going forward. You know he will bring in a stud WR or two as well. Plus several OL men.
so it's all good and now with decks cleared Go MU FB! The two huge negatives are gone from offense.
I believe MU has a QB maybe two that are highly rated coming in as freshman.
Maybe its just me but for a program like Missouri you put a lot of time and money into wooing a top recruit like Zollers to come here he has to have a legitimate shot to play otherwise what are we doing as a program that isn't a blue blood?
Perhaps you hire your new OC and then you find an experienced QB in the portal who is at least serviceable and has played in a system similar to the new OC's style as insurance that won't cost a lot.
People here talk about other needs and while that is true if you don't get the QB right it isn't going to matter.
I’d like him to develop one more season and get a qb with one year of eligibility. Byrum Brown would be my choice.

Highly recruited he has the bowl game, spring and fall practice and the non conference schedule to get ready.
QB recruits like this may be an annual thing for the blue bloods but not for MU.
If he's not going to get any honest look then whats the hell the use in MU taking the time and expense of recruiting him?
People believing he should stick around a second year without given every opportunity to win the job are delusional.
What QB'S have we landed as transfers since Drinkwitz has been here that's made a difference?

Drinkwitz has mentioned more than once that Zollers is the future. Expecting a recruit like this to patiently wait another season in the current landscape is not realistic.
As I mentioned MU will bring in a serviceable or capable QB with experience that won't cost a lot and may be at least somewhat familiar with the new OC'S system.

I'd have to assume that over no understanding or inclination from Drink being made and Pribula just up and left on his own to find greener pastures.
I believe the adult thing happened.
Until we hear something concrete on the matter, all of this is speculation of course.
Re: pribula portal
All that really matters is winning next season. That is all anyone really cares about, including Drink. Schools like Indiana and Miami are in the playoff two years in a row with two QB transfers. I like Zollers. If he is the answer for next season, then ok. I'm saying it doesn't have to be. If Zollers were to leave for another P5 school, none of them are going to guarantee him the starting position unless you're talking about bottom feeders like a kansas, OK St, Purdue, etc.11WSChamps wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 13:54 pmHe may not start but my guess is Pribula was told he's not going to be and with Moore leaving that was last straw.woofy25 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 09:29 amDoesn’t mean he should start as a sophomore. The real advantage to keeping Zollers is that it will save $3M-$4M that can get spent on other positions that desperately need transfers.
Re: pribula portal
What with all the recent poor-mouthing by Drinkwitz, I bet he told Pribula that there just wasn't enough money going forward to pay him the $1.5M he got in 2025, forget about a bump. Bosses always claim to be poor.

I also mentioned that he isnt going to get handed the job without competition.
And I am talking about next season of course that's why I asked what QB'S have we enticed to come here off the portal that is more talented than Zollers?
In this day and age a recruit as highly regarded as him at the QB position isnt goingvto let a second year of eligibility come and go without given every chance to win the job including playing in real games.
Re: pribula portal
Another quality of Zollers that I've heard about and is needed, of course, at QB is leadership. His HS coach was effusive in his praise of Zollers on that. And I know it's hard to see on TV and as a fan, but I just got the feeling Pribula never had enough of that. Cook had more IMO. Zollers has the arm talent to be a better passer than both of his predecessors and in the process become a leader.
Re: pribula portal
You have to have a pocket first when he had it he played fine. Once the Oline was exposed as not SEC caliber things went downhill. We can get any QB you want but they'll be running for their life.11WSChamps wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025 12:11 pm The OL in pass protection wasn't conducive to any kind of vertical passing game.
That and Pribula's inexperience as a pocket passer was apparently too much for Moore/Drinkwitz to overcome.
There was a time when a running game and great defense was enough but to reach the next level QB play is the key.
Drinkwitz has beaten the teams he should beat consistently with the old formula now he has to take the necessary step to beat the teams to make the CFP which is all anyone is going to measure success with from now on.
Also, to anyone saying we may have to go to the portal for a QB if Zollers doesn't ball out in the Bowl Game aren't thinking clearly. We're going to the portal for some sort of QB no matter what. We're not going into next season with Gavin Sidwar as the #2 QB.
Finally, WE NEED MASSIVE OLINE HELP!! Does no one get that the only reason we won 11 games two years ago is because we had one of the best OLines since we came to the SEC. We had Foster, Delgado, Membou, and pre-injury Tollison on that line. That's three NFL talents and a very solid (at the time) young center. We need 4 olinemen in the portal and I don't mean depth pieces I mean starters. Is that going to happen, I highly doubt it. The offense next season is going to be shaky to say at best even if we do have a good QB because we have no receivers to throw to. You can't only throw to Olugbode. Maybe Norfleet won't get injured again and will finally have a breakout year.

Agree on the Oline of course, and if we don't have to spend 4 million on a QB then that goes a long way towards the Oline.onemizzou wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 17:14 pmYou have to have a pocket first when he had it he played fine.
Im not worried about getting receivers, that's the least of my worries for next season.
The right QB cures a lot of ills.
As I said before if you don't get that right nothing else is going to matter.
Re: pribula portal
I think that's a little backwards without an OLine I don't really care who you have at QB you're not going anywhere fast. That was proven this year. Look at OU, they had the great John Mateer and were pretty much a (bleep) offense like ours except we could run the ball (at least against 2nd tier defenses). What did they have in common with us? A bad Oline. They did have a good OC and some good receivers though and that made the difference.11WSChamps wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 17:30 pmAgree on the Oline of course, and if we don't have to spend 4 million on a QB then that goes a long way towards the Oline.onemizzou wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 17:14 pmYou have to have a pocket first when he had it he played fine. Uh I'm well aware of the relationship between the Oline and QB.onemizzou wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 17:33 pmI think that's a little backwards without an OLine I don't really care who you have at QB you're not going anywhere fast. But if I have to choose Id rather have a top flight QB and a suspect oline than the other way around.
Not to mention Mateer had been playing with an injured thumb on his throwing hand most of the season.
