the villian OC who will not be named simply refused to do basic 101 football and throw the ball down field to his excellent WR corps especially Speedy. On Beau's first go long route hit speedy in stride for easy TD and then IGNORED HIM rest of year except on 5 yard out routes. Plenty of talent to take advantage of but I blame Eli for not firing his incompetent butt after Bama game and several on staff already have been successful OC's and could have taken role over. Hopefully Eli will be self critical and pull his head out of his rectum and hire someone who knows you can throw the ball down field.
Many times Speedy and others were WIDE OPEN jumping up and waving their arms only to be ignored by the very limited Beau. True shame that Eli couldn't convince two very talented guys coming into their own to stay around.

Re: Criminal usage of WR room
It is true we didn’t feed our receivers and it’s a shame because we had a lot of talent in that room.
But it’s not all on the QB. We need to go beyond just “fixing” the O Line. It needs to be a huge priority to have one of the best O Lines in the country. Maybe in the pursuit of that excellence we’ll at least achieve competency.
Great QB and receiver play usually follows a tremendous pass blocking O Line. Mahomes doesn’t succeed without a good O Line, as we saw this year.

Yeah, the OLine needs attention. It wasn't good enough in the pass or run games, as Hardy and Roberts gained most of their yardage after contact. UMass had 4 sacks and several pressures against the OLine.Armchair QB wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025 12:26 pm It is true we didn’t feed our receivers and it’s a shame because we had a lot of talent in that room.

And you're right on about Mahomes. Look at the SB last year when he was under constant pressure and a lot of times this year as well.

One will not be a RB for long, if you don't learn how to break tackles.

I’d even go as far as saying the O Line was 90% of why we weren’t a playoff team. Great O line this year? We finish 11-1 (probably still would have lost to A&M but who knows).icon wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025 12:39 pmYeah, the OLine needs attention. Look what happened with Wilks. An experienced DC who for whatever reason couldn't convey the message to college kids. A change was made and the defense has been good to very good ever since and was certainly good enough this year to win three of the four games they lost.
Complementary football is still the way to go but you have to have better balance and have to at least have the ability to score quickly.
Seldom are you going to drive the ball the length of the field on the Georgia's, Alabama's, AtM, and the OU's of the world.
I wouldn't even know where to look but I'm curious how many double digit 75-yard plus drives where had in SEC play this season.
