Who will be Cardinals No. 1 propsect one year from now ?
According to MLB Sam Dykstra , it's Rainiel Rodriguez ! ( I thought maybe Liam Doyle but he picks Rodgirguez)
Cardinals
Now: JJ Wetherholt, SS/2B/3B
Next Year: Rainiel Rodriguez, C
After moving stateside in 2025, Rodriguez could be a 30-homer threat before he reaches his 20s, and that’s incredibly valuable for someone who makes a living behind the plate.

Agree with Rodriguez.

saw that earlier today.
I like it.
I like it.

I don't know if Doyle debuts and loses his Prospect Status next year...highly unlikely. He may debut, but he won't hurl enough innings in the Majors to lose his status.ramfandan wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 15:50 pm According to MLB Sam Dykstra , it's Rainiel Rodriguez ! It's a race between Doyle and Rodriguez. Padilla will make his presence more known, imo, cementing Top 5, if not Top 3 Prospect with the Cards, and solidly vaulting into Top 30 MLB overall lists across the industry. Luna will destroy DSL pitching and jump into the Cards Top 10, and threatening Top 100 boards across the industry. Franklin will destroy the Midwest League, vaulting into the MLB Top 100...he'll struggle initially with Springfield, but will close with a rather impressive 3 week stretch at 4-0, 2.50 ERA, 16.3 K rate over 25IP....solidifying his hold on a Top 100 industry wide spot.

I really like your predictions. I have an offbeat one of my own. If Gastelum adjusts well to the ML ball in Memphis, I think he reaches St Louis in June and becomes a premier setup guy who will close ocassionally this year.....He will become a phenomena in '27; a closer extraordinaire.craviduce wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 17:47 pmjust my predictions.renostl wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 17:40 pmLottery numbers?craviduce wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 16:01 pmI don't know if Doyle debuts and loses his Prospect Status next year...highly unlikely. Re: Who will be Cardinals No. 1 propsect one year from now ?
i picked him because of a MOTOB OF is our greatest need outside of SP. I am assuming with all the SP prospects the Cards have, at least 1 or 2 of them will be good. We have no other OFs in sight. Hence the hope part...

Out of all the top 10 for the Cardinals, the one I am most excited to watch next year is Padilla. I agree with Craviduce, he will be at least top 5 for Cardinals and will be in the upper half of MLB top 100 sooner than we think.

I haven't seen someone throw that many changeups since Michael Wacha . . . But he's had good success with it so far. Low 80s with a lot of arm-side run. Occasionally, he gets so much tailing action on that pitch that it looks like a screwball from the CF camera.craviduce wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 18:14 pmsame...I really like GastelumhugeCardfan wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 18:03 pmI really like your predictions. Doyle.
These silly rankings tend to lean heavily toward pitchers and shortstops.
In reality, you could throw the top 10 names with any organization into a hat and a random drawing of names conducted to predict MLB success would be as accurate over time as any other method.

it's probably in the Top 20 filthiest pitches I've ever seen. Wish we would've identified him out of Mexico sooner....but I guess it really doesn't matter. Shelf life on quality relievers is like a RB in the today's NFL....4-5 years.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 18:26 pmI haven't seen someone throw that many changeups since Michael Wacha . . . Re: Who will be Cardinals No. 1 propsect one year from now ?
If Baez goes on a tear that would get him to #1 prospect level, wouldn’t that also land him in STL by August and strip him of prospect status? He’s in his 6th year of minors. Time to promote or he’s not good enough to be a #1.
