Army: I hope they go on a run. So when the phone rings, I say no

Post by John Cocktoastin »

"Yeah, I hope they go on a run. I hope a lot of things, but hope is a bad strategy. The reality of our industry is, as a group, they’ve got to go on a run, so when the phone rings I say ‘No.’"

He mentioned even Gretzky got traded. Sounds like he's getting antsy.

The entire NHL knows they are sellers already. Doesn’t matter what he says when asked.

Run or no run…they won’t be buying anything.

"Again, I don’t want to come across like … when you’re in this position, like Wayne Gretzky got traded. There’s really no untouchables – not on the St. Louis Blues."

He publicly said teams would tank for Kyrou/Thomas and his right hand man said Broberg can take over NHL games.

They need publicists to make sure they aren’t talking out both sides of their mouths.

The Blues will be buying futures, in one form or another.

In the hockey/sports world that’s known as sellers yup.

First Gretzky trade had nothing to do with contention. It was $$$$$$.

Armstrong wants Blues to become contenders; if not, he can deal with that reality and look to improve team's future.

None of this is difficult. Then again, I'm simple.

Armey surely has a situation on hand that will soon be handed off to Steen. Watching the Leafs tonite (after their blowout on Saturday) and you have to wonder ( you know with their plethora of tio 5 picks) which team has had the better decade and a half? What are Treliving's options at this point especially with a bare prospect cupboard? Point being that yes things may be suboptimal but things could be worse especially if you are in Toronto ( or Buffalo)

They weren't good when they were healthier...they just aren't a good team.

When healthy, IF the goalies are playing as well as we all expected, I still think they're capable of going on a run.

Thomas, Kyrou, Buch, Holloway, Neighbours, Snuggy, Schenn, Dvorsky, Parayko, Faulk, Broberg, Fowler, h*ll, probably even Mailloux and Torop, they all possess above-average NHL skills.

None of them are elite players, but some of them do possess a skill or two that's close to elite. I still think size and leadership are their biggest problems. But there's enough skill here to be a top-16 team in the NHL.

They just have major issues making their individual talents work together as a whole.

And I have no clue how you fix that without a Captain who's a true leader that can inspire and get the most out of his teammates.

Demko stealing games. They're getting outplayed overall.

It’s a crazy year. Blues are 4 points from the 2nd WC and they’ve been awful. At the same time, by points percentage, they are the 3rd worst team in the league. Injuries or not, they aren’t very good.
