Oli did it. I must retract my statements
Just saw on one of the podcasts that Oli adamantly confirmed that ALL of the stupid lineups and moves he’s ever made as Cards Manager…….
Have been HIS and that at no time has anyone from the front office given him direction for game lineups or moves.
I extend my sincerest apologies to MO, Girsch, and any of their minions for previous statements to the contrary.
Repeat OLI confirmed HE is the lone idiot.

I’m very much the opposite of an Oli fan. But I don’t believe that for a second
First reason, this organization and everyone in it has had extreme loyalty with protecting Mo and his idiocy
Second, last season near the trade deadline after another Fedde clunker Oli was doing everything he could during an interview after being asked why the f*** he keeps putting Fedde out there to tell us all he no longer wants to put him on the mound without telling us he no longer wants to put him on the mound.

Very good of you to admit your error . It is pretty well know in baseball that managers have the exclusive responsibility to set their own lineups.Goldfan wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 14:08 pm Just saw on one of the podcasts that Oli adamantly confirmed that ALL of the stupid lineups and moves he’s ever made as Cards Manager…….

I highly doubt though that on a podcast that Oli said he made any 'stupid lineups' .. maybe that statement should be retracted too. lol

So they run all these analytics and put in no name managers, just to have the manager not go by the daily analytics they feed him? And Oli put his hind quarters on the line by frequently doing what he thought and not what the daily data dump told him, instead using their data and saying its your data during tough times?

"Scheduled day off" ..not long after they had had a day off .. made it sound like scheduled a month ago..... never quite sounded like managers decision

Analytics advise, Oli decides.Clubmaker2 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 15:34 pm So they run all these analytics and put in no name managers, just to have the manager not go by the daily analytics they feed him? Been telling people this for years, don't know why they continue to doubt. Both Mo, Girsch, Oli, God, they've all said repeatedly the manager has the final say in day-to-day lineups. If the GM doesn't like or agree with the lineup, he'll make personnel changes to the point the manager will have to make lineup changes. But as Oli was always a Mo puppy, they clearly were never that far apart in thinking.
And to comment on the Fedde remark... Oli basically had no choice but to keep putting him out there. It's not like they were swimming in extra starter arms. If he just lets Fedde ride the bench, he's not only burning a roster spot, he's causing dissent in the org from top to bottom.
"Scheduled day off" sounds exactly like something stupid enough that only Oli would make it. I may be mistaken but I don't recall TLR, Matheny, or Schildt ever using these anywhere near the frequency Oli does, and since Mo was in charge since 2007...

Re: Oli did it. I must retract my statements
Oli is full of (bleep). Mo told reporters in 2023, that he, the game strategist, and coaching staff held game day meetings to formulate the lineup and pitching. All influenced by data. Oliver Marmol has never made a decision on his own.
Re: Oli did it. I must retract my statements
Whatever, he is unfit to be manager. The way he handled the Tyler O'Neil and Contreras situations alone should have gotten him fired. Not to mention his total mismanagement of the pitching in Game 1 of the WC series vs. Philly.
He doesn't seem to care one whit about losing. The same smirk still emanates from his stupid face.

Re: Oli did it. I must retract my statements
Anybody else worried about Walker training this off-season without Marmol? Maybe there is a feature on the Driveline technology that shuts it down for a day if a player makes too much solid contact. Gotta get these guys their regular days off.
Re: Oli did it. I must retract my statements
I’m sure that’s what ole Oli is doing currently. Slotting all those IMPORTANT off days for the 162 around the corner. Be damned the standings, opponents, streaks, how good the player is feeling…..YOU MUST SITDicktar2023 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 16:50 pm Anybody else worried about Walker training this off-season without Marmol? Mike Shildt apparently didn’t have extreme loyalty protecting MO (philosophical differences).
