The Blues just recalled Stenberg. I hope we can get him going too.

He's such a good player, a bit of a spark plug that we could use. Can't wait to see him slot in. Certainly worth a look over McGing. More of a scoring touch than Kaskimaki. Great passer.hockey jedi wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 21:45 pm The Blues just recalled Stenberg. I hope we can get him going too.
Did anyone else get hurt last night?

I likes the Devo. Oh how id love to at least see him reach 2Ca status to slot Thomas into a more natural, less pressurized equivalent 2Ca status since it appears he just doesn’t have the drive and will to be great when leaned on. I think we could win with 2 high end 2nd centers instead of a medium to low end 1C and a 3C.
Decipher that and get back to me.

Re: Dvorsky looking smooth
Our Top 3 players last night: Dvorsky, Mailloux, Sundqvist. Dvorsky for more than the two goals. He had a strong forecheck and puck battles game. The Delay of Game penalty was a physical error, that happens. It was not a mental error.
Our worst 3: Hofer, Fowler, Faulk. Fowler too many mental errors and flubs recently (he needs a rest). Thomas tied with Faulk, but he gets a tie-breaker since he got himself in position near net to score a goal.
The only one whom played above average for what we have seen too often lately was Binnington.

You are right. If you aren't going to have that elite Top Centerman, then you have to have two of the really good notch below Centermen.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 08:22 am I likes the Devo. Its possible that Dvorskys skating will improve over time with coaching and training. If he could add a little more athleticism to his game, look out.

Yes sir, make the other team have to focus on 2 instead of 1. and they could both take turns bein the man every other game, or in Thomas’ case…in the games he feels like givin his all.Old_Goat wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 08:51 amYou are right. I honestly dont know how to properly view him. Sometimes I think he’s an ok player with great skill, but just doesn’t have the inner drive to be fantastic and is too cerebral for his own good…and other times I feel like maybe Im expecting too much out of him and I need to set my expectations lower? Who knows. He’s frustrating for sure tho.
Re: Dvorsky looking smooth
It's complicated. Some of it is we expect too much of Thomas, some is he does not have a reliable supporting cast. He's a good player, I'm not saying to trade him. He has a good shot and he needs to shoot more often. But his greatest strength is passing and his edge work to pivot to then make a great pass, but...there's nobody to get in position that can also quick release. Could it be Snuggerud, or Carbonneau? Hope so, I think so.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 08:59 amYes sir, make the other team have to focus on 2 instead of 1. and they could both take turns bein the man every other game, or in Thomas’ case…in the games he feels like givin his all.Old_Goat wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 08:51 amYou are right. Kyrou does not work with him, because he is not a force in the slot.
But back to the subject...Dvorsky is a good Centermen and putting him on a line with Thomas would not solve anything. Being out there together on the same power play is okay, different situation.
Re: Dvorsky looking smooth
I jumped off the couch when DD scored that ES goal. Then he scored on the PP, after a long drought. I'm genuinely happy for him, the team needs him to score.
I saw something else, too. McGing set up the ES goal with an aggressive rush and nice pass finding DD open off his right shoulder, slightly behind. This isn't an ice cracking leap forward in his game, he relies on other playmakers to set him up. He is [still] in virtually no way a Thomas style playmaking or puck control center, though his transition passing up ice is pretty decent.
I wonder, how was the McGing play effective where Holloway, Kyrou, and others had failed to click with DD on so many other occasions?
Monty gave praise for getting his feet moving. I would say that's partially deserved but DD is still a guy surviving on his hands and shot, and his d-zone play.
Baby step forward, but a two-goal game is a huge boost no matter how it comes.

Re: Dvorsky looking smooth
I was almost going to say McGing in the top 3 last night, for that visible play alone. He was good for what he is these past two games. But I saw more often of Sundqvist in position at both ends make some plays last night.DawgDad wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 09:35 am I jumped off the couch when DD scored that ES goal. Re: Dvorsky looking smooth
I have to keep positive perspective sometimes and remind myself that Dvorsky was picked 10 whole spots higher than Thomas was in his draft. If he can become a shooting/scoring 1C(b) to Thomas' playmaking 1C(a), we could be in pretty decent shape there. This season could be very valuable for the sole purpose of Dvorsky learning to play the NHL game, even if the rest is a dumpster fire.Old_Goat wrote: ↑16 Dec 2025 09:14 amIt's complicated.
