offseason 2023 we signed Sonny Gray. No other significant moves.
Offseason 2024 we did nothing of note.
2024 we traded Edman, who sometimes played CF but was hurt for Fedde.
July 2025 we drafted Doyle, then other pitchers mostly behind him.
Offseason 2025 we traded Gray, for 2 pitchers.
We signed Dustin May.
We will reportedly trade Donovan (who also plays OF) for more pitching.
We will get nothing of note for Arenado.
We have traded away Bader, ONeill, before that Lane Thomas this decade and not replaced any of them. Siani and Hampden are no longer here but don't need to be discussed.
Our OF is among the worst in MLB, and our OF prospects number between 1 and non-existant. Josh Baez isn't ready and will never be ready to play 3 positions at once. We have a habit of moving Infielders to the OF (then later trading them for pitchers) but how has that worked out for us?
Its been years of neglect to the OF roster at both the major and minor league level. And I don't even see serious chatter of top OF talent or truly MLB ready prospects being acquired. At what point do we reBUILD the OF? How does that keep coming last on the list of priorities for 3 GMs in a row (if you count Girsch)? Baez was drafted way back in 2021. Walker in 2020. Since then...crickets???

Re: The years of pitchers (and no OF)
This is due to the collapse of the pitching pipeline. At the '21 and 22 deadlines they had to trade for two SPs each. After '23 they signed three starters and at the '24 deadline traded for another. They had to pour resources into the rotation and the OF was neglected.
I hope this offseason they acquire someone who can eventually lock down CF for 5-7 seasons. I doubt that player is currently in the organization.

I would rather they pick up a power hitting corner bat prospect that is needed far more than another center fielderMort Gage wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 10:03 am This is due to the collapse of the pitching pipeline. That's another way to do it. If they had highly productive corners Scott's offensive limitations would be less of an issue.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 10:04 amI would rather they pick up a power hitting corner bat prospect that is needed far more than another center fielderMort Gage wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 10:03 am This is due to the collapse of the pitching pipeline.
