AI Prediction on Arenado
I asked Grok:
Potential Destinations Commonly mentioned landing spots include:
Boston Red Sox — Need 3B help; fan proposals involve salary swaps or prospects.
Los Angeles Angels — California native Arenado could return home; low-contention team but geographical appeal.
Philadelphia Phillies — Upgrade at 3B.
Detroit Tigers — Emerging contender seeking infield boost.
Arizona Diamondbacks — Direct 3B need.
Miami Marlins — Salary dump candidate.
Less traction with prior links like Astros (blocked last year) or Dodgers (quiet lately).
No deal is imminent post-Winter Meetings, and the market is slow—St. Louis may need to get creative (e.g., package with another player or eat more money).
Prediction: A trade happens before spring training (high probability, per insiders like Jon Morosi calling it "almost certain"). Most likely destination: a contender like the Red Sox or Angels, with St. Louis absorbing enough cash for mid-tier prospects in return. If no suitable offer emerges, he could open 2026 in St. Louis, but both sides seem motivated to part ways.

Have thought plus posted that Arenado will be combined with another player(s) when moved this winter.
Is package quite likely.

I have thought that a player package was unlikely because the Cardinals seem focused on maximum prospect return and not just salary dumping.

Agreed. Who cares about Nado anyway. He only has 2 years, just let him finish. I would rather see the Cards trade players who can yield real returns.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 18:41 pm I have thought that a player package was unlikely because the Cardinals seem focused on maximum prospect return and not just salary dumping.

Re: AI Prediction on Arenado
It has to be hard for a guy like Arenado. A questionable HOF candidate, lots of good years behind him and really no one wants you but you have a couple of years left on your last contract. I’m sure the Cardinals have tried to move him but how many teams think they are better off with him. Obviously not many or it wouldn’t be so hard to find a trade partner.
I don’t feel sorry for him because baseball is short lived and Arenado and his family will be financially secure for the rest of their lives but not being wanted has to be a tough pill to swallow.

NO WAY you pair him w/Donny.
I wouldn't even do it w/JoJo.
You want max return and NADO would lessen it unless BDWJr agreed to eat 95% of his contract (no chance).
Pair him w/a catcher (Pages or Pozo) and take little return for 20%-30% salary relief if you have to in order to make a trade.

I agree with this. Pages and Pozo, would be good fits, or say a minor league fringe player. Antico, or any number of Springfield, or Peoria infielders. If still no takers, just keep him. He’s still one of the best fielding 3rd baseman in the league. He might be more movable at the trade deadline, or if another team has an injury occur.

Who knows, healthy he will still play great defense and could get off to a solid (.750+ OPS) start and you could then move him at the deadline.
One good thing we're learning about C. Bloom, he's thoughtful and only makes his moves when it fits what he's seeking to do L-T.

Re: AI Prediction on Arenado
I'd like to see the board move on from Nado. The prospects that could come from Noot, Donny, WC sound like real players who can assist for the future.
