Maybe....
...and I do mean maybe...it's time to let Joel have 2 games in a row again.
Huge JB fan here and I say this for a couple of reasons...one being to see if this could nudge him into a better zone of play.
Goal tending so important with the team down with all the injuries. They need every win they can get.
I'd think Monty would have to at least consider this as part of a change up.

Re: Maybe....
I would agree with you. Hofer is better at the moment so should start. Binner should find his stride again but not to a team he just got pummeled by. I know the ego says give me a shot at beating them, but if that not work out then he looks at a confidence buster
Re: Maybe....
The last time Binner had a season like this, he looked pretty good in the playoffs. Just gotta make it that far.
Re: Maybe....
I think Binner needs to tune up his game. Hofer has better angles and resets better after a shot so he is in better position. Also seems a little better at seeing through the screens.

Need to give Binner a break to reset. Hopefully, he turns it around.
Need to bank points by playing the hot hand.
Hard to focus on youth movement if youre not rewarding the young players who are earning it.

Re: Maybe....
Play the hot goalie. Binnington has had his chances to earn playing time. He has blown it. Play Hofer unless its a back to back which there are plenty of this year.
Re: Maybe....
Respect that but both have blown plenty...I like one game at a time just not a preset rotation...so give Joel another if he plays well, then consider a 3rd game before JB would come back.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 10:17 am Play the hot goalie. That's my thought on this. No routine. But we need both goalies imo.

Re: Maybe....
Jordan has consistently played his best when he's either heavily rested or it's a high-leverage game.
I'd much prefer to see Hofer play against Trashville and get the majority of starts until Binner has a strong week
TBS, my guess is Monty will think 3 days off is enough rest and Jordan will likely be back in there on Tuesday. Hope not, but Monty doesn't seem to do a lot of out-of-the-box thinking.

Re: Maybe....
This is where I am as well and Hofer is prone to having some real meltdowns as well when things go bad. Also Hofer needs to be quicker with his puck decisions. The D have no idea what he is going to do with the puck or where to go. He hangs on to it so long that the forecheckers get in on him and force him into a lot of bad decisions. I swear he forces himself to make 5 or 6 extra saves a night because of his puck handling.dhsux wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 10:50 amRespect that but both have blown plenty...I like one game at a time just not a preset rotation...so give Joel another if he plays well, then consider a 3rd game before JB would come back.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 10:17 am Play the hot goalie. Re: Maybe....
Binnington plays his best when the doubt is the highest and there’s nothing left to lose.
Hofer looked very shakey through moments against Chicago and was really fighting the puck; especially early which has been his Achilles heal for his short career.
If this team is to succeed it won’t be because of the goalies. It will be because the skaters in front of them have figured their [shirt] out and come to compete for more than 20 minutes every four games.

Monty has been mind [fork]ing the goalies all year. Don’t expect it to stop now. I fully expect JB Monday

Re: Maybe....
quite frankly other than a few games Binnington hasn't been very good this year at all.
For a while it was the same with Hofer, but he has since been an above average goaler and at this point we simply can't afford to keep losing games in the first 10 minutes of the 1st period.
Until Hofer shows otherwise he needs to be the one in net. Jordan needs to work out his issues. Until then he rides the bench.

Re: Maybe....
I'll just leave it up to Binny and the coaches. I'm not seeing him or Hoff being the blame, or even most of the blame for the way this team is playing.
Re: Maybe....
Anyone think trade rumors started screwing with Binner's head? I mean he has had some rough streaks in the past, but I don't remember a time this rough. There was a ton of noise out there, and who knows how much noise we are not privy to about potential trades. I also think Binner getting married and having a kid, may have taken some of that rough edge off of him. He has been a pretty good boy for the last few years and he has not really been involved with all the extra stuff that he would get into. Just a couple of thoughts.

Truly, agree 100 percent with those points, especially Hofer, at times, dinking around with the puck too much.
