I’m from the school of- if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance; you best baffle them with bull chit.

The Cards may be worse than the Pirates next year. They are taking a step back next year and focusing on acquiring prospects, then building a better player development system so more of those prospects succeed. When that is in place and they are on an upward trajectory they can strategically acquire higher price FAs. If they continued down the old path their ceiling was basically the 83 win team from '24. They don't have the payroll to outspend the big boys so they need to be smarter.Ike Hammett wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 13:41 pmThis is now bullsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 13:26 pmI’m from the school of- if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance; you best baffle them with bull chit.! Education is your friend. I get it, it isn't for everyone.

That team had plenty of talent but injuries was the reason for the regular season record.Mort Gage wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 13:52 pmThe Cards may be worse than the Pirates next year. Edmonds and Eckstein missed a ton of games and Mulder saw his career basically come to an end.
If Im not mistaken even Pujols missed a couple of weeks due to injury.
Otherwise this was easily a 95 win regular season.

I agree with Ike. This is all your fault. Jerks.

I don’t think they’re trying to be like the Pirates. If you take a step back and look at our teams in ’23, ’24 and ’25; you can see just how poorly those rosters were constructed. The guy in charge of building those rosters isn’t here anymore. Bloom is tasked with reshaping this team, 40 man and farm system in order to recalibrate our trajectory as a franchise.Ike Hammett wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 13:41 pmThis is now bullsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 13:26 pmI’m from the school of- if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance; you best baffle them with bull chit.! Trading Sonny Gray or any other high priced contract (Contreras, Arenado) makes sense if you can bring back players that can help us in 2027 and beyond. I love Donovan, but if they want to trade from a position where we have depth to bring back a quality piece at a position where we’re lacking, then go for it. Same goes for Burleson, Nootbaar and Romero.
Long story short, clean up Mo’s mess. Shake this thing up. We finished 19.0 GB of Milwaukee last year good for 4th place in a division that sent 3 teams to the post season. If there’s any team in need of some roster churn and a fresh start it’s us. I think we have a legitimate chance to be really good in 2027, 2028 and beyond. Just like that team in 2000 ignited a 15 year run of quality, Championship level baseball.
