Nice signing - if healthy Gingerguard can deal.

Re: Dustin May
They have to have a remotely competitive team. People know it wont be winning baseball, but nobody wants to pay to see a White Sox, Colorado level disaster, either.
Re: Dustin May
Very smart move. Nothing to lose and only upside possible. Not a Mo move for sure!

Passan also says so:

I'm a big fan of finally signing guys that can be dealt at the deadline if they turn in a strong 1st half. If he stinks, it's just a 1 year deal, so nothing lost.

+1 definitely beats signing a guy like mikolas who has limited upsidecardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 15:41 pm I'm a big fan of finally signing guys that can be dealt at the deadline if they turn in a strong 1st half. If he stinks, it's just a 1 year deal, so nothing lost.

Re: Dustin May
Agreed. In the past, guys like Lynn and Gibson would have never gotten us much at the deadline. I'd much rather sign guys like May, especially for the upcoming season or 2, who could pay off huge at the deadline. Never understood why Mo didn't do this.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 15:43 pm+1 definitely beats signing a guy like mikolas who has limited upsidecardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 15:41 pm I'm a big fan of finally signing guys that can be dealt at the deadline if they turn in a strong 1st half. Re: Dustin May
Significant injuries and surgeries including a torn flexor tendon (2023) and a rare esophageal tear (2024)
Expected Range: 90–130 innings-IF
Not sure where he fits-3 inning starter at the beginning of the season?

I love this deal. Really a very limited downside proposition. Plus, could be a great lottery ticket.

One year “prove it” deal??????
Only 28 and lifetime ERA under 4.00.
Biggest downside has been staying healthy. At least he threw 132 innings last year which is his career max.
I recall him having good stuff.
He is incredibly homely though which actually might make him more effective??

Has rocko posted this 58 times with the receipts to back it up???

Re: Dustin May
Dustin May is one of the arms a few of us here have previously stated that Bloom should sign.
Appears Bloom is doing precisely as I advised: add short erm talent to give the team a chance to compete for a W/C in 2026 while adding quality high ceiling prospect talent for the long haul.
Bloom has done that on the pitching side of the equation.
Now time for him to do as I advise on the position player side of the roster.

I’m fine with it. They needed a veteran starter.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 15:30 pm Cards in agreement with Dustin May, per Katie Woo on X.

But why would you love it?
