I was rooting for VA against a mediocre Duke team as it was huge for their program and then? They didn't even show up for biggest game in program's history. It was so MU like. Were exposed and gives MU staff tons of tape on which to scheme on. of course Kirby will look at it and come to wrong conclusions and do what he does. dink and dunk and IF they can slow down running attack won't have even one clue as to what to call. All the while Eli a supposed offensive guru will sit there with that stupid look on his face and not intervene.
anyway these are just exhibitions and all the extra practices make it worthwhile and nice to have a warm weather, hopefully, destination for the loyal fans to be in. Get all these young guys more reps, especially offensive and defensive linemen.
Love how spoiled ND is surprised they wern't invited to the big dance but like MO they didn't beat anyone with a pulse losing both their big brand games. the U with identical record basically BUT they beat them head to head. So took ball and pouted and said we're not going to play anymore and NO ONE CARES. They are NOT what they used to be. IF they had been in ACC conference would have been in championship and won it and been in playoff.

The Gator was one of three ND could have played. It appears ultimately they turned down a chance to play BYU.JackBolly wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 15:31 pmND was supposed to be the opponent per bowl contract, but ND declined and quit for the year. Sources have suggested ND did not want to see their star get stuffed by MU D and then Hardy running through their backfield.MrPostman01 wrote: ↑07 Dec 2025 16:22 pm GATOR BOWL!

CATHOLICS vs MORMONS
They could have made T shirts and made up the financial difference from not making the CFP.

Exactly that. In those days, you had the Rose, Cotton, Sugar and Orange Bowls, almost always played Jan. 1. After that, the closer to Jan. 1 a bowl was, the higher its prestige. The Gator Bowl was usually around December 30-31.winonsports wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 09:27 amWhat was its standing in 1968, when a Missouri team with a similar record went to Jacksonville and took Alabama behind the woodshed?

Exactly! Back when bowl games meant something. Just winning 7 games didn't necessarily get you an invitation. Unlike today when multiple 5-7 teams got invited which is the byproduct of numerous teams opting out of bowl games. I can understand the teams with new coaches opting out but some teams were just bitter. I'm looking at you nd.Red7 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 18:11 pmExactly that. So, what you're saying is the Gator Bowl really hasn't changed much in prestige over the years.Red7 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 18:11 pmExactly that.
