Re: Blues Announcers
This type of thread needs to come after every game.
I don't know how one gets hired for a top level job like this and doesn't do the homework on the teams, on the ice.
Maybe spend less time researching trivia and the value of condiments one would have in their homes with or without pickles. Which come from a Mountain of Olives. Did you know that Krebs.
And give a hour to learning names and numbers of the team we are playing.
But Krebs won't. He would rather pass it to the guy that gabs. Where he always has the knowledge.
Like everyone involved with what's on the ice, everyone involved in this decision should lose their jobs

Seattle and LGB both nailed it. Naively hoping somebody with the team reads this even though they won't do anything about it- at least this year.

I agree with this 100%. Vitale actually has pretty good hockey insights when he's not talking complete jibberjabber, he's played in the NHL and he understands it. But I really do think they're encouraging him to be a goofball. He's got to dial back the goofball stuff by like 90%.
I thought Kerbs and Chase were pretty darn good. Kerbs has a great voice for radio, and Chase is kind of a grump who's not afraid to call out the play on the ice. We need more of that.
Re: Blues Announcers
I am excited. I have a friend who works for the Blues. He has inside information that tonight we will learn the secret to making gooey butter cakes. Enjoy!

The problem is they're both being color guys and there's no real play by play going on.

Re: Blues Announcers
I have the luxury of a ESPN subscription so I can watch the opposing broadcast

Re: Blues Announcers
This thread should get its moment after every game.
I watched the Nashville feed for the first period and they called more of what the Blues were doing then our guy did.
He also didn't have problems with names. I've never heard so many guys named Nashville or the Blues.
What sucks is it's clear management had a talk with them. Because they are now finding rookies to blaming for [shirt] play and cramming, 'getting to the front of the net, every chance they get.
Yet management said nothing to them about them calling the game.

Re: Blues Announcers
Aside from the Chase conversation, the national broadcast was sterile and atrocious.
Buccigross was/is (?) great on ESPn highlights, but terrible play-by-play. And the commentator was flat, nasal and reading off a sheet of paper. No energy or personality in the production — again, minus Chase.

+1. I guess there was only one Bob Cole; and it seems like good, actual, play-by-play guys are (literally) a dying breed.blues2112 wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 21:58 pm Aside from the Chase conversation, the national broadcast was sterile and atrocious.

For national broadcasters, I miss Thorne and Clement. They made the game entertaining, imo. I always thought Steve Levy was pretty decent as well.crookedfeeder wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 22:02 pm+1. Yeah I appreciate how much Bucci clearly loves hockey but he’s really bad doing the games.zuck698 wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 22:07 pmFor national broadcasters, I miss Thorne and Clement. Re: Blues Announcers
Anyone remember Rick Meagher? He was the absolute worst for me. Or maybe he was just the sideline reporter but he was just as bad as Ramage.
Agree, this three stooges duo of kerber and Vitale is terrible but unfortunately we are stuck with them now. No way Kelly would come back now after being so disrespected.
