Jarry to EDM for Skinner and Kulak

Post by Quas »

Looks like Binnington to EDM is off the table. I'm happy that Army didn't trade Binnington for this return as there were rumors circulating that they were offering the same for him.

Stan with another band aid on their goalie problem. Harry isn’t winning anyone a Cup, but I guess he had to do something.

Probably a good time to point out the Blues goal tending numbers are even worse than the Oilers and the Oilers are struggling to win because of their goaltending.

Lol, Hockeybuzz has been manifesting Binner to Edm all week, even suggesting McDavid was insisting on Binner. Glad Army didnt settle for that return...

I would bet Army was too stubborn. Binner at 50% retained could have/should have brought back a player like Emberson and a draft pick. That would have given EDM two cup runs with Binner at the helm, which they would have paid for.

Probably there is no interest in Binnington around the league after his recent play....

Hahaha... who in their right mind would offer real value for Binnington at this moment? He's the worst #1 starter (and close to being the flat-out worst goalie) in the NHL this season.

If trading him is a possibility this year, he'll have to put together a string of a few good games to show he hasn't completely lost it.

The Blues goaltenders are struggling because they have lost skilled offensive talent to injuries. The young skilled players are now filling in, but have yet to fully embrace the NHL level of urgency shift to shift. This isn't a knock on the kids, but they are being forced to grow up a lot quicker than the organization had hoped.

The Blues had great pressure early last night, but if you look very carefully, there were far too many "one and done" situations. Forwards weren't getting inside the Preds D. And they were woefully soft in front of the net. Nashville was getting the vets matched up against the young kids and the result was predictable. Men against boys. Trouble is, the Blues won't really have any shutdown guys - other than Sunny and Joseph - when they play Nash again on Monday.

100% people have to remember Binner has to submit a list he’s not going to a Canadian team outside of Toronto

You are correct, sir.

And if I were Binner, I’d feel the same way. Winters in CAL, EDM, WPG, OTT are brutal. MTL has language issues and political baggage. VAN is rainy and depressing from mid-Oct-Jun. And all have very high taxes. TOR is the only one which would appeal to Binner since he and his wife are from there and she is a Canadian actress, with TOR being Canada’s Hollywood and national media center.

And even with all that, Binner might not want to play in TOR which is the most brutal hockey city from a press and fan expectation standpoint.

Pens got a 2029 2nd rounder makes the most sense. The rest is two seasoned GM's moving around the money.

....and Skinner needed out for his own sanity.

Depends on what you mean by "real value", I guess. But plenty of GMs will remember his elevated play for Canada and outdueling Hellebyuck.

He's not having the best year, but that may just be a product of thr team's struggles.

If I were a GM and I had to upgrade in goal for the playoffs to possibly save my job, I'd much rather trade for Binnington than Jarry...

NJ, MON, and CAR are still rumored to be looking for upgrades...

Worth speculating whether Binnington was seeing continued starts as a showcase to Edmonton for trade.

you aint wrong. the start of that game should have been 2 goals to 0 based off 5 on 5 skating and then the Blues gave up the 1st one. But you look who is on the ice and it's the young guys when the goals happened. Correlation doesn't mean causation, but the game got out of hand when the wrong skaters were on the ice. It just is what it is at this point.

The Blues have now scored 2 or fewer goals in 14 of the last 16 games. It's a miracle they have gotten wins during that period of time.
