Re: Kaskimaki sent down
Eh...he was disappointing. Didn't look awful but didn't show much either. After hearing so much about him, I was hoping to see some real promise.

Heard a lot about Dvorsky too.
Point is there isn't anybody doing much to crow about right now.

Re: Kaskimaki sent down
Hey, he got a taste. Definitely didn’t look great but he’ll be better for it as a result. For old timers, I remember when I was a kid and Joey Mullen got called up and sent down repeatedly before he finally popped in a couple of goals and he went nuts for the next 15 years. Not saying Kaskimaki is anything like Joey Mullen, but a little experience at the NHL level will help him out.
Re: Kaskimaki sent down
Oh yea I'm not saying write him off, but he was being pretty highly touted by people who had seen him at lower levels so it was disappointing he wasn't able to even really flash that promise in this stint.

I dont know why some of you think a rookie is going to come up and immediately set the world on fire. It's clear that some of you have never competed in sport in your lives.
Re: Kaskimaki sent down
No one has said that. You are way too eager to police. Not sure who you were before, but this new handle is annoying as [fork].Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 14:02 pm I dont know why some of you think a rookie is going to come up and immediately set the world on fire. Does this mean someone is healthy? Because I agree he hasn't shown much but he's easily better than Luff.

It's been said ad nauseum about dvorsky, kaskimaki, mailloux. It's annoying as [fork].MiamiLaw wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 14:03 pmNo one has said that. You are way too eager to police. What's been said ad nauseum? I have not seen one post criticizing any of these guys for not "setting the world on fire". I do see a lot of rational and reasoned impressions on their game and, like the rest of the team, they have been mostly disappointing.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 14:07 pmIt's been said ad nauseum about dvorsky, kaskimaki, mailloux. Dvorsky has done a few things well but has a long way to go. Mailloux and Kaski do not seem NHL caliber at this point in time to me. And it is unfortunate to see because these are some of our highest rated prospects.
The team sucks. There is not much good to speak about right now.

Re: Kaskimaki sent down
it's probably because most posters on here haven't competed in sport. But to that point, Kaskimaki was very whelming at best. Dvorsky at least shows signs of fun stuff. At one point he was ripping the dot apart. Now he's at 50 which is respectable for a rookie. Kaskimaki really didn't do anything and as a forward if you are invisible it's a bad thing. As a defender if you are invisible it's a good thing. Mailloux has also made improvements.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 14:07 pmIt's been said ad nauseum about dvorsky, kaskimaki, mailloux. Where I gripe is I get tired of the people who say tear it down or play young people and then complain that we aren't playing enough young people or whatever it is while also losing a game. I for one am not signing up for 10 years of terrible hockey. It's how you kill fanbases.

Re: Mailloux looking better, he was solidly on Hockey Stat Card's worst team of the week for Dec 4 through 10 so he really hasn't looked much better by the stats. Dvorsky and Kaski on there too along with Monty's pet Sunny...

None of them look like McDavid or Makar because they aren't. Those are generational players. All three of them have been serviceable. Mailloux was obviously overwhelmed to begin the year.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 14:16 pmit's probably because most posters on here haven't competed in sport. I get tired of seeing people saying "he's not as good as they said he was going to be". It's been 10-20 games. They are playing with a completely different team in the best league in the world. The talent jump is significant and there are nerves, learning curves, confidence issues, new venues, expectations, etc. Give them time to settle in.
My frustration is not aimed at you. You seem reasonable.
