The only trade with Ottawa that makes sense is Brady for Kyrou.
Kyrou plus a first round pick and a prospect....then they might think about it.
Kyrou isn't a slouch and is signed for 6 more years at a below market amount. Might have to add a mid prospect but not a first rounder.
If you're Ottawa....why would you trade your team captain and overall team leader for a guy who is on a "fair" contract just to get additional years. You might not get KT for Kyrou and 2 1st rounders....
If your Ottawa, and you truly wanted to trade him...don't you think they would get more from another team in the league than just Kyrou and a mid pick?
He's got 2 years left and as of right now I'd say the odds of him extending aren't good. He's been there 7 and half seasons and seen a total of 6 playoff games and right now they are 6 points out of the division spot and 7 out of the wildcard. they have Toronto, Florida, Montreal, New York and New Jersey ahead of them. If they miss this season I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if he says he's done there and demands a trade.
As far as can they get better? I mean sure if it's a wide open field, but Brady has a NMC, so they are likely limited to 3 maybe 4 teams he'd be willing to accept a trade to, so why would teams offer a ransom? If it cost Kyrou and a first I'd do it, but if it's between the Blues and say the Kings, Kyrou beats out just about every NHL roster player the Kings can throw at them except for Byfield.
I never said they would trade him, just that trade is the only one that would make sense between the Blues and the Sens.

What's the logic behind thinking he'd only be interested in 3-4 teams? Maybe he wants to go to a team seriously contending for the Cup now. Maybe he wants to go to a team he sees on the cusp of opening the window to perennial playoff/cup contention. He's almost certainly not going to pick a team that is floundering in the mushy middle of turning it around/falling backwards.
Hawks, Mammoth, Ducks, Kings, Stars, Golden Knights, Devils, Canes.....I wouldn't be shocked if he went to any of these teams for one reason or another. Or stay where he's at and continue to try to build with the core of players he's with now.

Well for starters how many more years of missing the playoffs and high taxes is he willing to do? He's made the playoffs for one season in Ottawa and right now they are on the extreme outside looking in.
Part of the main reason for getting the NMC is so that if you are approached for a trade you determine where you are getting traded to. Opening yourself up to 10+ teams takes that completely out of your control. Have you ever heard of a player waiving even a NTC for 10+ teams or 15+? No because then there's no point in even having it, just have the M-NTC and have the 15 teams you don't want to play for on there.
On top of all that I'm really not sure how many more times I need to say I'm not saying we would trade for Brady or that he wants to play here, only that that's the only trade with Ottawa that would make sense for that Blues.

Binnington to MTL for Owen Beck, 2026 2nd rnd pick (either theirs or Columbus whichever is better)
Schenn to TOR for Ben Danford, 2026 3rd rnd pick

Not bad
MTL needs a goalie and a Center
so Schenn and Binner
for
Guhle, Kappenen, Montembeault
Blues need to turn the page somehow some way on Binnington, Schenn, Fowler, and one of Torop, Walker, Joseph ideally. Steen needs some cap flexibility to sign a few other guys perhaps they can find some size and character. Can they get Alex Tuch, JGP, Schwartz idk. And above all else the Blues need a couple of kids to make a somewhat improbable leap this Summer, Dvorsky, Snuggerud, Mailloux, Tucker, Stenberg idk who exactly but they need to be able to come into camp as NHLers ready to contribute on a shift-by-shift basis

Torpo can go. At least Walker and Joseph have speed and give there all .
Binner is been awefully
Totally agree in the big picture this season may be the Blues toughest during this "retool". Almost everything had to go right for the Blues to succeed and almost everything has gone wrong. Its very likely that next season Snuggerud, Dvorsky and Mailloux can play bigger roles, Blues sign a couple of players who fit the mold a little better, leadership, grit speed. I like Holloway, Neighbours, Thomas, Hofer, Broberg, yea Joseph now Fabbri might be a third liner so the bones are there but the garden needs some weeding
