You could see Burns a bit tonight if it's a blowout, but don't get your hopes up that he will be anything but a bench warmer this year, he has a long to go. Boateng has not shown me he is ready either, some flashes, but mostly meh. If he's going to show something it will probably be against the Alabama States of the world. I expect to see Northweather a bit more tonight if Phillips continues to clog the middle and prevent Mitchell from getting to the bucket. Northweather will camp on the 3 point line where he is most effective.edwin drood wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 17:13 pm7:00 pm Mizzou Arena

Agree that Burns is no where near D1 ready. Not even close.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 18:35 pmYou could see Burns a bit tonight if it's a blowout, but don't get your hopes up that he will be anything but a bench warmer this year, he has a long to go. I said last year if Crews got a lot of playing time this year we would be in trouble. Every time he does something good he'll do something bad.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 18:56 pmAgree that Burns is no where near D1 ready. The following guys need to show something too:
Porter (What does he really contribute?) Mack (Figure out when to penetrate and stop chucking 3 balls.) Northweather (Is he anything more than a 3 loint shooter? If so, can we get more consistent?) Phillips Jr., (Can we please be a BIG MAN? And enough of the antics of the court already? More play, lwss talk.) Boateng (Has shown flashes. Can he figure out his role?) Barrett (Needs to be more of a distributor and spell Robinson effectively.)
I think overall, Gates needs to figure out what each guy does best and utilize them to their strengths. Right now it seems like a bunch of guys trying to "get mine" when they finally get court time.
Outside of Mitchell, occasionally Robinson, and Crews, we have little offense.
Lots of questions still and this team needs to gel....and quickly.
Agree. He needs to know when to shoot it and when not to.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 19:02 pmI said last year if Crews got a lot of playing time this year we would be in trouble. The guy can shoot, but athletically he doesn't have it.
ASU shoots A LOT of threes AND we refuse to guard them. Defensively we are a mess, but we know Gates will address that issue.Armchair QB wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 20:15 pm Lackluster effort tonight. Our defense is just bad. Not just effort issue on defense, most of our players are just not good defensively. Even Robinson who IS a very good defensive player, is allowing his man to beat him off the dribble. There are no good answers this year.
Pierce would help a lot defensively but I think we all feel we can’t count on him playing.
Gates has never shown the ability to coach through adversity and right the ship.California Cardinal Fan wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 20:59 pm This may be the least impressive team coach Gates has given us, including his second one that showed promise before getting hit with season ending injuries to key players. Watching their consistent difficulty in putting away mid-majors, it's hard to conceive of them playing above .500 ball in the SEC.
Looks like a long, unhappy season.
