Skubal to Dodgers?
Rumors deal pieces in place pending extension before trade. Pending Tigers ownership approval of deal. Rumor Glasgow going back to Tigers in the deal. Baseball world would explode if true. Just couple of twitter posts so far so who knows.

Gag
Wonder if I get to live long enough to see the other side of the deal with the devil

I don't see Glasgow being a sought after piece for Detroit. He's about as injury prone a pitcher can be without completely falling apart. Sheehan I could see. Sheehan, Freeland and Sirota would be something I could see Detroit oking.

I had similar thoughts when LAD gave away Pepiot to get Glasnow.billybaseball wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 23:41 pmI don't see Glasgow being a sought after piece for Detroit. Less certainty for more money. They gave away a better pitcher to spend more.
A Skubal deal has to bring a haul and has to bring back something that
looks best not just down the road but looks good in 2026 too. I'm not aware of
the NTC's in LA. Detroit if they do it is attempting to thread a needle.

Just form a new league and let the Dodgers form their own.
Re: Skubal to Dodgers?
Why would a playoff Tigers team trade a young Cy Young SP?

Careful what you ask for. How about a Premier League- for the performance enhancing players.
Bet there would be a crowd.

Re: Skubal to Dodgers?
how is this any different than what the Yankees did back in the day?
Re: Skubal to Dodgers?
It's different because the Yankees won all their championships BEFORE they started adding all the superstars.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025 08:59 amhow is this any different than what the Yankees did back in the day?
Re: Skubal to Dodgers?
So sign him…..not like the LA pitcher is cheap
Re: Skubal to Dodgers?
First of all we don't know if Glasnow will be part of the return. Second we don't know if Skubal is willing to sign an extension in Detroit (maybe they've tried and he is unwilling, thus they're willing to trade him). Third, there a difference between paying a top SP $30M for two years vs. giving out probably the biggest SP contract in history (ignoring Ohtani).

Mike Ilitch died in 2017. The team is run by a holding company with his son as president, not sure they are willing to spend as Mike was, especially in his later years.Goldfan wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025 09:46 amIlitch has the $$rbirules wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025 09:37 amFirst of all we don't know if Glasnow will be part of the return. Even if they can afford it (every team in baseball can afford it, if they so choose), that doesn't mean Skubal is willing to sign there. Is signing a SP to likely the largest pitcher contract in history a better decision than getting a haul for Skubal in a trade? I'm not sure it is from the Tiger's perspective.
