The question.. What is enough for Donovan?

Post by ramfandan »

Will one offer from a team have unanimous support from the several top Bloom scouts, advisors, etc in their brain trust at Orlando hotel suite. Odds are No ..
So the question for Bloom boils down to …Is the best proposal worth taking OR do I pass and hope to do better later possibly next year ?

Donovan could have a fine 2026 increasing his value but aldd also could slump, be injured again and decrease what you can get now.
One thing is for sure. 2 years remaining til he is a free agent offers more than 1 year. That won’t change.
Think of Bloom’s decision also like a kid at Ted Drewe’s Custard.
You may have three great choices.. choc. Chip concrete, Hawaiian sundae, or Cardinal Sin. Which one is your choice?
All good but you need to pick one.

I don't see that as the question at all. There is no question in my mind that there is no trade in the future that will yield more than a trade now. The question to me is: is the return offered now suitable, or does it just make more sense to keep him?

They should all know this. And the same for Arenado. If I gotta pay 20 M plus to move him, I’ll keep till deadline. It ain’t like he’s blocking NG, or something.

Agree. Because of the years, BD is at peak value right now. Waiting a year can only drop his value. Injury or off year and the value hits rock bottom. If hes not in future plans, big mistake not to move him for best offer.

I think Donovan is gone for whatever Bloom and company consider the best offer. It just will have a zero % chance of satisfying most CT posters.

At least half the board will be disgusted. Law of average.

Like our children. Little Johnny does no wrong. However just ask the neighbor.

If that is Bloom’s question, he has indirectly already answered it by making Donovan available for trade.
Got to keep him means he plays two years and then goes to free agency. Bloom would put QO on him to get one draft pick.
That is it. So why get peanuts 🥜?
They have never indicated at age 30 they want to give him a long term deal.

Can't see there being a "next year" RFD, Donny's value is at it's max right now.

Odds are the offers will be very similar among multiple teams: a top minor league pitching prospect nearing the major leagues plus ??? is Donny if teamed w/one of our catchers or even JoJo.

The good news?

We now have a POBO and a staff that knows how to evaluate talent unlike the previous regime.

But like all trades involving prospects, the odds are long you acquire a true gem and it will take a few years before we know the outcome.
