Goold Says San Fran Is In On Donovan
Wonder what we'd need to add to the package to get Bryce Eldridge...who they are apparently at least "listening" on. Hmmm.

To me, if the Giants are actually “in” on Donovan, Eldridge would have to be part of the package. There isn’t a whole lot else that they have that really interests me.

Re: Goold Says San Fran Is In On Donovan
They have one prospect worth pursuing (Eldridge) who would take much more than Donovan to get. Other than him, the Giants have nothing to offer. Nothing.
Re: Goold Says San Fran Is In On Donovan
Eldridge seems pretty high risk to me... idk. He seems far from a sure thing to be a big league hitter.

If they would accept a package of Donovan, Nootbaar, and one of Pages/I. Henderson/Pallante, I would be all over that. They need help at C, 2B, OF, SP, and depth of any kind. Then you have to hope the kid isn't Adam Dunn.

Dakota Jordan isn't bad, I watched him with MSU in 2024...exciting kid. There were some concerns about the swing...but he may have fixed that.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 16:36 pm If they would accept a package of Donovan, Nootbaar, and one of Pages/I. yeah, TB....he mocking 1st round for a long time...but he didn't do something right in the Combine....or his Regional wasn't great, I'm not sure....he fell way down the draft with a Swing Concern. He hit well in 2025 in A ball...so....there's that. I don't know how he'll translate to upper minors or majors.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 16:50 pmThanks for the info. I would HAPPILY take an Adam Dunn and his nearly 500 career homeruns.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 16:36 pm If they would accept a package of Donovan, Nootbaar, and one of Pages/I. Re: Goold Says San Fran Is In On Donovan
This would be the kind of deal you want to do. But Donovan plus those guys no bueno. You have to make them want to do it. Let them pick a c prospect not named Rainiel and a pitcher not named Liam or Brandon Clarke.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 16:36 pm If they would accept a package of Donovan, Nootbaar, and one of Pages/I. There are better matches from the Cards point of view, but we don't know what other teams will actually part with.

if Clarke helped beget Eldridge, I'd jump on that in a heartbeat2ninr wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 17:27 pmThis would be the kind of deal you want to do. But Donovan plus those guys no bueno. Hold off on that. Clarke has the chance to be a TOTR starting pitcher.craviduce wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 17:47 pmif Clarke helped beget Eldridge, I'd jump on that in a heartbeat2ninr wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 17:27 pmThis would be the kind of deal you want to do. Re: Goold Says San Fran Is In On Donovan
Clarke and Eldridge are both swing for the fences prospects- super high ceiling with very real failure potential. The strikeouts for Clarke and the home runs for Eldridge are sooo enticing.Shady wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 17:49 pmHold off on that. Re: Goold Says San Fran Is In On Donovan
Good grief, Eldridge is a rare talent. I'd consider trading any Cardinal prospect for him straight up. Doubt the Giants would do that, though Posey as POBO might consider that plus Donovan. Donovan is great, but he's pretty replaceable, imo, and Eldridge is the kind of power talent that does not exist in the Cards system.
