Predictable
The Pirates/Reds chatter was never happening.

Re: Schwarber returns to Philly
good for him. incredible amount to get as a DH only in his 30s at start of the contract. he seems to be aging well

Beat the 4 years/$112 million estimate on FG.
A lot for a 33 year old DH.

Re: Schwarber returns to Philly
I guess that Philly window was for all intents and purposes "finished" if they couldn't keep Schwarber

Probably because that was just some hypothetical....kind of like a lot of the stuff you preach as fact on here.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 10:42 am Beat the 4 years/$112 million estimate on FG.

Pirates "made an offer". I wonder if their fans think they seriously were trying to sign Schwarber.

It's the terrible side effects of pleading poor for so long.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 12:16 pm Pirates "made an offer". I wonder if their fans think they seriously were trying to sign Schwarber.
These guys want to have a known quality in the lineup besides themselves

Either the Reds or Buc's matched the AAV, then the 5th yearOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 12:45 pmI think they were seriously trying to sign him they just never seriously had a chance to sign him he wasn’t ever going to sign with themScotchMIrish wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 12:16 pm Pirates "made an offer". came.
Totally agree, he fits in Philly with a more complete roster and
probably some strong bonds.

Re: Schwarber returns to Philly
He is a major clubhouse presence so part of paying him was for the leadership to the team.
As for his age, hmmm ? He has aged well so far but he does turn 33 early March. Yes, he doesnt play in the field but a players body still declines. This deal pays him for ages 33,34,35,36, and 37.
I wonder at 36 and 37 how many HR’s he will be hitting then ?
Phillies wondering too but needed to go 5 years or risk losing him.
Years 4 and 5 are a long way off especially turning 33 the first year.
Likely his production will be much less then.
