Re: Hugh McGing recalled
I assume this is just to have an extra forward available?

Ha. Good one. He was not tendered a contract at first then signed again as a FA I think. I thought he was as well until I looked on their roster a while ago.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 16:24 pmObviously showcasing him as the main piece for a Quinn Hughes trade…
Re: Hugh McGing recalled
Main piece? If anything, Vancouver would have to add to get that deal done.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 16:24 pmObviously showcasing him as the main piece for a Quinn Hughes trade…

Ha. Good one. Honestly thought he was gone as well. I believe he was never tendered a contract then returned as an FA at some point. I was looking at their roster a few weeks ago and there he was.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 16:24 pmObviously showcasing him as the main piece for a Quinn Hughes trade…

Re: Hugh McGing recalled
Sad that this is the best we have to recall. Kaski, Luff, McGing. Woooof. Oh well, happy for them to get the recall, just wish we had better, since 2 of the 4 will be playing until some guys heal up.
Re: Hugh McGing recalled
Is this simply a "just in case" somebody takes a puck in the head in practice, or eats a rotten tamale for game-day lunch and is too sick to suit up?
I don't understand why it could not be an opportunity for a skilled, higher potential youngster to at least get a taste for where/what/how they need to concentrate if sent back down and use their adrenaline to spark the team somehow. I get the whole experience & maturity thing, but that is not enough to cover up the reality of Luff & McGing's ability.

Is Stenberg hurt?
Re: Hugh McGing recalled
Glad you mentioned you were happy for him.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 17:09 pm Sad that this is the best we have to recall. Kaski, Luff, McGing. Woooof. Oh well, happy for them to get the recall, just wish we had better, since 2 of the 4 will be playing until some guys heal up.
I love this when it happens for guys that have hung and hung for their chance.
It's what it's all about for the guys down under. Might be his last chance.

Agree. That was kind of my point above. Maybe those type guys aren’t viewed as even being close, or it would seem more logical to see a Stancl, Stenberg, or Robertsson. Again, I get rewarding some guys who’ve put in their time, but they should be evaluating how far some of their top guys are away vs a 28 yr old journeyman IMHO.Old_Goat wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 17:50 pm Is this simply a "just in case" somebody takes a puck in the head in practice, or eats a rotten tamale for game-day lunch and is too sick to suit up?

If they want to bring up somebody “just in case” bc they need some depth or perhaps someone has an injury where they are questionable to play, you bring up a lesser player who can sit in the press box just in case.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 18:13 pmAgree. If they needed someone to step in and play, they’d probably bring up one of the real prospects who you’d rather play in AHL than sitting in a press box in STL.

Ooooh! I hope so!!
Re: Hugh McGing recalled
+1. Rewarding your AHL guys also helps other veteran AHL depth sign with the organization. With the amount of youth we've got coming through the pipeline, having good veteran leadership will be key in their development.General wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 18:52 pmIf they want to bring up somebody “just in case” bc they need some depth or perhaps someone has an injury where they are questionable to play, you bring up a lesser player who can sit in the press box just in case.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 18:13 pmAgree. Stancl has been hurt (might be back? I'm not sure), Stenberg has been inconsistent, Robertson has been hurt and inconsistent. The only prospects worth a view right now are Pekarcik (but he's -14) and Peterson (correct me if I'm wrong but I think he is injured).
