This happened 3 years ago and is just now paying off. Brown was brought up in late 22 after the 30 game deadline, then kept up for all of 23, and was still eligible for ROY status. Despite not performing so well (5+ ERA) he was never demoted or even removed from the rotation, and then finished 3rd in CY voting in 25 - his 3rd full season.
Interesting how playing by the rules and not playing games can payoff so nicely years later. Will need to keep this in mind with JJW's service time etc.
