Re: Pavel Buchnevich
His play has improved dramatically and he's putting up points. He may or may not live up to his contract but that's not what matters. It's how he helps this team this season.

Re: Pavel Buchnevich
This is the part that bothers me. Probably more about Army than Buch. I do want players to at least be producing at a level somewhat near what they are paid. Buch was worth a 3 yr and maybe $5-6.0 million when he resigned. That would equate to a 50-60 point guy, which is where he “should” be. He has gotten better the last week or two, but he’s still tracking towards 40-45 points. That’s not acceptable for a team spending to the cap. Maybe on the last year or two, but not the first year of a 6-year deal. Schenn, Steen, Backes, Statsny, etc… all have/did decline and their contracts looked/are below average at the end. Some we kept and some we dealt. If Army couldn’t have gotten him cheaper, he should have been dealt.Tony Palazzolo wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 07:27 am His play has improved dramatically and he's putting up points. Again, not a fan of Buch, but it’s due to his cap hit relative to his production. He needs to be much better.

Re: Pavel Buchnevich
Agreed - he has not been good this season. I think you also have to look at his value as more than a point producer. They love his defense. It's also not uncommon for players to hit rough patches. It could be injury or confidence or both. Teams weather players going into peaks and valleys all the time. The Blues for whatever reason had most of their top players in valleys. The last two games their best players have been their best players Buch included.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 08:34 amThis is the part that bothers me. Probably more about Army than Buch. IMO Goaltending really won the last two games. last night, 39seconds of offense help.
we were the 2nd best team overall.

We've had a number of games this year where we were the better team but the goaltending utterly sh__ the bed. Sometimes the goalie needs to steal a game.crookedfeeder wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 10:32 am IMO Goaltending really won the last two games. last night, 39seconds of offense help.

I'd like to see his stats before the break. This team was flat and treading water the whole first half of the season, outside of maybe the start.

That Buchnevich guy is pretty good right? 9 points in the last 10. Thomas and him picking up their connection

14 points in the 14 games following the March 7, 2025 TDLwow talk about backfire. The whole team was firing on all cylinders for a franchise record wins streak. Hard to suspect that will happen again, but you can't debate the facts about what already happened.

Re: Pavel Buchnevich
I'm still confused about why people think Buchy is the problem? He is the best 2 way forward on the Blues until proven otherwise. Since he has been a Blue, he is the most defensively responsible player they have, that can find ways to get on the point sheet. Yes, he went ice cold for about 20 games last year and this year another 10, but he has 9 points in 10 games. and he looked decent before that but was snakebit.
He knows he was struggling, and he is out there doing everything he can to try and make an impact elsewhere. Other guys who are struggling just flat disappear. I'll take the guy trying to make an impact somewhere else over the guy that hides because his game isn't right.

Thomas is the best and it’s not even close. He’s better both offensively and defensively.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025 09:34 am I'm still confused about why people think Buchy is the problem? He is the best 2 way forward on the Blues until proven otherwise.
