Drink and Gates too similar

Both are really good at recruiting but awful at game coaching and decisions and find ways to pull defeats from victory.

Just went thru Football season of hope then deflation to resignation. Now Gates is determined to do the same. Tho we weren't sure what to think as they piled up victories we knew the only games that mattered in preconference were ND, KS and soon IL. Of course they lost the ND game tho they had the better talent and then KU blew them out of the arena.

So they as a team don't play defense, shoot FT's or three's very well. They rebound OK and have a couple of guys who can attack the rim overall they have been exposed as being a mid to lower tier SEC team after seeing the SEC/ACC challenge where we saw a lot them play and even the teams who were bottom feeders have improved more than Tigers.

Their is hope for BB because of their outstanding class for next season Number one overall but then one has to wonder if that talent can overcome a mediocre coaching staff? So This season is simply to be endured.

Good recruiters are good salesmen and salesmen are typically full of it. XOs don’t matter just big $$$

Drink is 42 and Gates is 45 and they’re both in their 7th years as head coaches.

Both have proven they are outstanding recruiters, especially in this new insane NIL era, which is half the battle.

They both need to learn to surround themselves with outstanding assistants for each aspect of the game. Player development needs to be a higher priority.

But guys, we have a couple very young, talented head coaches who need to continue developing themselves. We’ve had enough highs and lows at Mizzou. These 2 have had us at pretty high levels with hope for higher. Stay the course with these 2. Let them continue to grow as coaches. If either have a major slide and things don’t look up for the future, then a decision has to be made. But we’re no where near that point.
