CFP…..ND Out, Miami and Bama In

Post by rezero »

Not sure how the committee could have ND 2 spots ahead of Miami last week, then after neither team plays move Miami up. This is getting a lot of attention. I think the seedlings are good for the most part, minus the Miami/ND issue as ND is the better team right now. Bama should feel thankful that the committee came out and said they don’t want to punish teams for playing in conference championship games.

Then let's do away with conference championship games in the P4 at least.

They're nothing but GD money grabs and other [nonsense].

Enough is enough.

Yeah, but what does head to head mean? I think ND pays for losing to Miami.

Truth is they’re both better than Tulane and James Madison. That’s the real flaw. We’re putting teams that aren’t top 20 in the country in a top 12 tourney.

True but they can't help playing in the lesser power conferences.

SOS is a good barometer I believe but this is one of the reasons the number of playoff teams was expanded.

Problem I have with Alabama getting in is they looked like they have no business being a playoff team eith that performance on Saturday. They cant run the football and the passing game with Simpson hasn't been good for weeks.

Not to mention now you have a second match up with OU on Norman which was played just a few weeks ago.

It's ridiculous but in this day of college football why would anyone be surprised.

So my solution to that for Tulane and teams like that is, play 2-3 true big boys, perennial top 25 type teams in the non conference. If you somehow win those games and then you roll through your schedule you make it in on merit and not because you play in a lesser conference.

Like basketball, if we want to see teams like that in it, expand the field to 32 and take all conference champions.

They said 3 P5 teams have backed out of bowl games. Iowa St and Kansas St are two, anyone know the third?

Except you have to convince the networks to show Tulane vs. OU instead of OU playing Michigan for instance earlier this year.

And the networks drive the revenue.

I agree there needs to be a more equitable way and this YMCA mentality needs to go away.

And not many OU type teams want to play a mid major that can beat them early in the season. It is one of the challenges of being a non P4 school.

Maybe Tulane or James Madison will win a game or two and I’ll change my tune a bit.

Anything that leaves ND out is the right choice. They should not be allowed into the conversation until they join a conference.

In the end, I think the CFP got it close to right. It's not perfect but the bracket looks decent now.

What kind of seedlings - oak, maple, pine, tomato, green beans?

So much for a bunch of ACC teams displacing SEC teams.

ACC was lucky to get 1 team slotted at No. 10. Duke winning the conference at 7-5.

I don't know. Miami losing to Louisville at home should have been a disqualifier. I'm no ND fan, but ND had no bad losses, though they did lose to Miami in Week 1.
