Hoosiers setting the bar....
Curt Cignetti has brought Indiana an undefeated season in a tough conference.
TWO years, and they are the number 1 ranked team in the CFP.....all you folks out there who played not to lose Eli Drinkwitz, here is the proof in the pudding that you can make a two year turnaround in the modern day world of the transfer portal. Compare Drink to Cignetti and we overpaid for mediocrity.
Sure, ya gotta have a QB....but when you compare the offense of Indiana verse the offense of MIZZOU....both featuring RPO styles....you MUST tip your hat to the Head Coach and his staff....don't believe that a HC can have that much influence on the success of a team ??? Just ask the Hoosier's players who couldn't heap enough praise on Coach Cignetti
Well Done Hoosiers!

No kidding. Drinkwitz has yet to score a signature win in 6 years. I guess he'll get 20 more years to get one.whowadat wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025 22:42 pm Curt Cignetti has brought Indiana an undefeated season in a tough conference.

Where did Cignetti come FROM? I mean the guy is 64 where's he been this whole time. Never even heard of the guy and two years after going to IU he's got the #1 team in the country. WTH?
Re: Hoosiers setting the bar....
For me, this is why you hold onto Eli.
But that's just me.

Re: Hoosiers setting the bar....
He has done an amazing job. There is so much going on behind the scenes that we TV analyst don't see. He capitalized on an untapped resource many coaches cannot... team synergy on and off the field. Saban and Meyer were geniuses at it.
I still think they lose in the playoff. In fact, Georgia steamrolls everyone and Indiana does not make it to the finals.

Cignetti is the exception and not the rule.
Favorable conference and schedule back to back seasons.
Certainly a commendable job bringing that program back from the dead but it would be foolish to think that would be the norm.

Tough conference? Put them in the SEC and let's see their record.whowadat wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025 22:42 pm Curt Cignetti has brought Indiana an undefeated season in a tough conference.

Even their non conference games were pathetic. Even if they still played Kentucky regularly, it would have been just as weak.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑07 Dec 2025 08:51 am Tough conference? Put them in the SEC and let's see their record.
Re: Hoosiers setting the bar....
Cignetti is 64 ans has been in coaching for 40 years. Eli is 42 and had been in coaching for 13 years. Maybe we give him some time.icon wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025 22:45 pmNo kidding. Re: Hoosiers setting the bar....
For those who claim the SEC is far superior to the Big Ten - last year head to head Big Ten vs SEC in Bowl Games: Big Ten 5 wins, SEC 1 win
Ohio State beat Texas for the Championship
Ohio State beat Tennessee in the first round of CFP
Southern Cal beat Texas A&M in the Las Vegas Bowl
Michigan beat Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl
Illinois beat South Carolina in the Citrus Bowl
MIzzou beat Iowa in the Music City Bowl
I agree that Indiana has had very favorable schedules both '24 and '25, but seeing how they destroyed Oregon at Eugene, and beat Ohio State last night for the Big Ten championship, they have proved that they are for real.

It certainly helps when over half of your schedule is made up of cream puffs. You only have to get up for a couple games the entire season. The Big 10 having the 1 and 2 seeds is a complete joke.
Re: Hoosiers setting the bar....
IU was awesome v tOSU - They have a Heisman QB and that was the difference in game.

Get real. B10 has 3 or 4 good/decent teams. SEC has twice as many. Look at the top 25. Not even close.12xu wrote: ↑07 Dec 2025 11:40 am For those who claim the SEC is far superior to the Big Ten - last year head to head Big Ten vs SEC in Bowl Games: Big Ten 5 wins, SEC 1 win

Re: Hoosiers setting the bar....
I forget whom it was when arguing for USC to be in the playoff a few weeks ago but they mentioned USC losing to Illinois, but two of the Illini’s were quality losses to Indiana and OSU and I’m thinking they lost by a combined 71 pts. There is no quality in that.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑07 Dec 2025 14:00 pmGet real. B10 has 3 or 4 good/decent teams. SEC has twice as many. Look at the top 25. They’re a great story and they could potentially win it all.12xu wrote: ↑07 Dec 2025 11:40 am For those who claim the SEC is far superior to the Big Ten - last year head to head Big Ten vs SEC in Bowl Games: Big Ten 5 wins, SEC 1 win

But, they don’t play anything close to an SEC schedule. It’s the grind of the SEC schedule that leads to a lot of 10-2 and 9-3 records even by playoff contenders. And the SEC is loaded with them. Even the “bad” teams like Arkansas are challenging and not gimme’s.
I’m not saying Indiana and Ohio State wouldn’t be near the top or at the top of the SEC because they would contend. But they could also be 10-2 or 9-3 and on the outside looking in like a Vandy or Texas.
