Their moves make the cash register sing as Priority #1, and their firm belief is that the fans in St Louis won't notice because they love their Blues.

The fans of St Louis are being taken for granted and disrespected on the ice and the airwaves.

John Kelly saw it coming--guaranteed. If you were listening, he made that call loud and clear.

The ground has shifted under sports fans I think. We are all used to the game being "called" since that's the paradigm.

These aren't "announced" games per se. It's a Blues entertainment podcast where you can listen to a couple guys talk about the Blues and conduct interviews and share their own personal podcast tangents ... while the game is being played on your screen, and most of the time the game takes up the whole screen, but of course not always.

It's a podcast about the Blues. It's a horrendous, horrendous podcast, literally the worst I have ever heard in my life, this is a truly pitiful output for a man. It's an insult that this job is being done in this way because it deserves far far better. But it is a podcast / show, "with hockey." That makes it more understandable.

I also watch the other teams' broadcasts, most are real but some are slipping into the new era of presenting sports contests, podcast style.

I dislike the current Blues broadcasts, but at least I can see what’s happening on my screen. I feel sorry for those folks who are listening on radio and are stuck with these 2 clowns. On radio, the play-by-play guy must call the (bleep) game, not chatter with the color guy.

If I’m in my car and must hear the game on radio, fortunately I have SiriusXM and can listen to the opposing team’s announcers. That’s how bad Kerber and Vitale are.

Its like being at a bar watching a game and the next table over there is a pair of drunks having a loud nonsensical debate over some trivial topic not related to the game.

I hadn’t thought of it, but you’re exactly right. It DOES sound just like that!

Vitale sucked on the radio and he sucks even worse on TV. They’re abysmal…Vitale especially. He might be the worst color man the blues have had in my lifetime (40+ years).

All that being said, I’m still going to watch. The announcers have no real bearing on my fandom.
Ramage was hands down the worst color man I’ve seen or heard (following since 90-91 season). Vitale is three times worse. I absolutely despise the guy as a color man.

An excellent assessment and explanation of the situation.

To be fair. Rob was not an announcer nor color analyst. His job was to give the near-ice feel for the action during breaks from someone whom has been there and give new & casual fans a sense of what the action is all about. And he did not need to go stick the mic into the Coach's face for everyone to hear what that is. Yes, it was painful to watch his natural shyness. And he was the first person to privately say (actually with a little relief), when they quickly replaced him with a young Dan McGlaughlin, "That was a good move, he was much better equipped with a mic than I." Maybe not a smooth talker, but a Real Class act.
And of course throughout the league many of the teams have migrated to putting their actual during game analyst down between the benches.

In years past when you were caught away from tv and had to listen to the radio broadcast you would unknowingly forgive the production and just be grateful to be getting anything on the game.

On television, it's a whole different story. The announcers are very much a part of what you are experiencing since you can see the game and are seeking information that would go with the game as you see it and it does not jibe. On the contrary.

Rather, we are getting "stories" and interviews and comments that are pure annoying distractions.....and not entertaining.

And Kerber is part of the problem encouraging Vitale's ramblings to fill air time. For starters, the production manager needs to cut Vitales air time in half.

Time to get Kelly back.
This and the Blues brand of hockey have turned me off totally as a lifelong fan (56 years).
I have not been impressed. Not sure how much of it was there style and how much was the product on the ice they are calling, but not a fan. The constantly going off course to side conversations it annoying and confusing at times.

Though I was amused listening to Kerber drop an Enfield, CT reference much like I was amused listening to Brad Thompson drop a Bridgeport, CT reference earlier in the year. These places are not far from me, but left me looking up how they ever heard of them.

Outside of a 90s hockey telecast discussing where Janney was from I am sure no one in STL had any clue Enfield existed.
